I could be wrong, cuz I skimmed these interviews but Kanye isn't even asking for financial backing is he? If money was the issue, he could get 10 Saudi Arabian oil money princes to fund whatever fashion project he wants today (not to mention his own network of rich friends and potential investors...same people who fund his gfs ventures).

What he's asking for is access/cosigns/creative control/ a warm embrace from the big fashion houses that can provide automatic credibility to his brands. The things he craves are not tangible or real. All imagined and ultimately worthless so he is destined to fail...
He said he wants to be Michalangelo. He had a family of billionaers backing his visions and he brought forth very innovative inventions for friends. He says he wants backing, friend. Maybe you should relisten to the sway and breakfast club shows again.

I don't have time to re-listen so you'll have to explain, friend. What does "I want to be Michaelangelo" mean? Kanye is not short on money or access to money so he wouldn't need a family of billionaires to execute any of his vision...

He is short on money to make the necessary investment to break into fashion that he feels he needs.. He blew 13 milllion dollars investing in his clothing dreams and it went Nowhere. He cant be out there just dropping millions of dollars and not have it pan out. There are obvious limitations to his wealth. Because he blew that money he wants someone to invest in him so he can feel comfortable persuing his creative visions without the fear of failure. Also, because of cosigns from established brands he feels that by proxy it will give his brand credibility.

Michalangelo the artist could not have showcased many of his artistic feats without the backing of someone with money. Kanye feels he needs this and history shows that most of the great artists in fashion have had the backing of someone with more money then them to break past the small business barrier.

You should really listen to the interviews again in your car because its more then i can encapsulate in a post.

Kanye is realizing that no matter how far you go up that ladder, there is always going to be people above you.

yep...and they still look at him as a nikka...he probably knew that already, but figured it wouldnt be as bad cause they digging his music, he wasnt rude/disrespectful (at first), they seemed to be accepting him, etc....think that realization (and his mom dying) is why he's acting the way he is...

in the end, i dont give a fukk...he keep dropping hot music, he'll at least sell one copy, cause i'm cop...

You should listen to it anyway. He regurgitates some lines but he still gives insight into the game, friend. You cannot take off in fashion without a financial backer. Ralph Lauren, Hillfigger, Fendi, etc, all had to go through the gatekeeper to get to where they are. In researching the big boys in fashion, there is no started from the bottom and made a billion. Literally, someone liked their work and gave them money to succeed. Thats what Kanye is trying to say here but people dont really understand the history of these companies that are here today.

Kanye may have to settle for being a Little guy, which may be to much for his ego.

Thanks, friend. I'll give it a listen while doing my work.

Naw, that's not it at all bruh. I know Yeazle is not reading my posts and my thoughts aren't making a "difference" in his life. Though if he is :pacspit:

But trying to play this high and mighty role when you are just as much in it as anyone else, and your reasoning for participating is as petty as it can get is pretty fukkin stupid to me. Bottom like you're a Ye stan, which is fine, but you are trying to act like some elite objectivist who is above the fray, which is corny. IMO.

What envelope is he pushing dawg. Outside of music he is not doing anything revolutionary. He is just ranting and raving in interviews and generally being a hypocrite. He's not inspiring anybody, he's not on the level of any of the names he compares himself to (Warhol, MLK Jr, Michaelangelo etc). He is an egomaniac and I tihnk he is suffering some kind of mental breakdown.

This is no role or act. This is me every minute of every day. I see you've kept tabs on me. Which is flattering. I approach all aspects of my life from an objective point of view. Well to the best of my ability. I am a fan of hip hop in general. Kanye is our most vocal pillar. I believe we should support him, while pursuing our own dreams. It's bigger than music. As black people we are on the edge of the promised land. Only we can hold ourselves back. I like kanyes. Quote that it's bigger than labels and brands. He's there for drake Kendrick lupe etc...whoever makes Good music is on GOOD MUSIC.

That is how I feel about the hip hop culture. We've kept designers pockets rich. Why not support one of our own on a higher level of production. It would just be cool to see.

Personally though, I am always working on several things at once. Starting a family, finishing school, beginning to write fiction. And like Kanye I was told I couldn't do these things as a big black nikka in America. On march 8th I'm getting married to a woman I love who is Italian and Portuguese and a physician, so the hate Kanye is receiving for dating out of his race while being a revolutionary minded person hits close to home. We are marrying in a rather exclusive club in Saratoga NY. I'm 1/3 of the way through my first book which her father has encouraged me to finish after he just finished his as a self published author of a medical murder mystery (Lost Generations by Steven Noble). So to give you some insight on why I often disagree with you....as a dude from the hood who now goes to black tie events and fundraisers with the elite of my area... In my mind the sky is the limit. The hate along the way serves no other purpose but to empower 'objectivist high and mighty' mothafukkerrs like me :yeshrug:

It comes with the territory of being a leader. Family friends peers and strangers will hate. They are the sheep. Those that are inspired by the trailblazer become the future leaders. That's why he name drops those people. They were the Egomaniacs of their time. If you disagree just do your research.

NO ONE ON THIS PLANET OWES YOU A FAVOUR, HELP, OR A HAND OUT
nikka shut up. If you're a human being alive on this earth you are alive and breathing right now because someone has supported you in some way in the past. If it's a parent guardian spouse boss teammate coach...you got where you are today because of the supporting cast behind you.

This site is a pretty good cross section of the hip hop world. Take a poll.

Never said this

Or this

MJ had a solid 10 year run. You know why? Because he WAS the creative force Kanye CLAIMS to be.

Rap is supposed to be a braggadocious art. Fine. But this nikka has crossed the line into fukking delusional.
No way man, this site skews 25 + first of all. Plus, internet forums attract a certain demographic.
