You gone make him wait another 20 years before he compares to nikkas that had 5 year peaks in the 90s?

To be honest I don’t think it’s possible at all.
Hip Hop is in a shytty place. And those 5 years in the 90s mattered.

We have actual sucka emcees stringing together 20 years careers based on huff. The game has slowed down even with the increased output. It all means less.

He can be his generation’s champ for whatever that’s worth.

He’s in that space where the only people that will be ranked above him are the ones that people won’t budge on no matter what like Pac, Big etc. (which is totally fine). He’s clearly displayed himself as one of the most gifted to ever do this shyt and has the numbers/accolades to back it up. This ain’t like us trying to gas up Mos Def in the mid 2000s lol

It’s going to get REALLY difficult to debate from a catalog standpoint if he knocks this next album out the park. The GKMC - TPAB - DAMN run alone is an album stretch that some of the greatest ever couldn’t even touch. I think Kendrick KO’ing Drake this quickly is something that will have the masses go back and remember just how ridiculous his discography is.

He has an argument but his run isn't over. He's still adding to the score card which means he can lose points still too. I'm really looking forward to this next album for instance. If that shyt is great or a classic? At that point we get into some wild discourse on his placement IMO. But if he drops an ehhh or disappointing album that's another convo.

Winning this battle with Drake so convincingly feels like it equals a classic album tho right? I feel the same way about Nas. And in both cases they took out a bigger artist (sales wise) and turned the tables on them. Had people clowning the so called king of this shyt in both cases lol.

Kenny has met every metric for Goat status outside of longevity. But I feel like hes solidified himself as like top 10 at worst
Even with longevity, his first album came out almost 13 years ago, and his major label debut was in 2012. Compare that to other GOATs. Jay was calling himself the GOAT when Black Album came out, and that was 7 years after his debut. LL called himself the GOAT on “4, 3, 2, 1” which was 12 years after his debut album. Nas was in GOAT convos in the late 90s after 3-4 albums. I won’t even get into Pac and Biggie who had their careers shortened by their murders. With 5 albums and 13 years, I don’t think longevity is a disqualifier.

He's approaching undeniable top 10 status across the board

For me he's in my personal top 5, but even nikkas that don't fukk with him will have to have a hard time not putting him in a legitimate top 10

He's cemented himself as his era's GOAT at minimum
He was top ten before this based on lyrical ability, discography, critical acclaim/awards and commercial success. How the next few years pans out for him determines where he sits in that list.

The nikka got three classics and a victory in one of the biggest rap battles he can drop mid and still has yet to drop a trash album his spot is solidified at this point. Atleast to me.

Last year, Billboard had Kendrick in the top 10. I forgot where he was ranked, but ya'll were in an uproar. If Kendrick was not in your Top 10, 5, 3 or wasn't your GOAT before, I don't really see how him defeating Drake moves that needle.

I saw Kendrick get raked over the coal for TPAB (which I still think is the best album of last decade) and Mr. Morale (which was nowhere near as bad as this board made it out to be). People were talkong about he fell off.

All of his albums IMO are great. That's where he excels. More so than most artists, he makes true concept albums where they really do tell a story.

I don't get excited for a Kendrick feature as that's the worst part of his artistry. He has some dope ones like his feature on Game's "The City". He doesn't really blow me away lyrically as much. Nowhere near wack. He's great, but not elite.

This is just my take on Kendrick. Out of the "Big 3", he's the most consistent and the better lyricist.

I have him #2 behind Nas, he has the best catalog outside of Outkast, but I still feel Nas is a better mcee
