I think Drake progressed and dropped fire between 07 and 2015.

If You're Reading This It's Too Late
is the fourth mixtape by Canadian rapper Drake. It was released through the iTunes Store without prior announcement on February 13, 2015, by Cash Money Records. The physical edition of the project was released by Cash Money Records; as well as OVO Sound, Young Money Entertainment and Republic Records. There is a debate upon whether this project is a mixtape or a studio album; although it was released commercially through his record label, Drake himself referred to the project as a mixtape.

He's bar for bar better. This is why he's the most quoted, this is why witty shyt on he said on More Life has made talking points and discussions

This is why his features the most valued. This is why he's killed more features prettt much any of them the last few years.

Anybody can be catchy. Word to Designer and Thug and Future. You can't even understand these nikkas but got people singing their songs anyway.

So yea, try again.

I don't think you're talking to a fan of actual hip-hop as a,culture.

I'm convinced you guys all just stay inside because outside all accross the world Drake resonates among hip hop fans.

Hell, here's the GOAT Nas putting drake in his current top 5. The fact you guys are obsessed and pressed to trying to push drake out the convo says it all. His impact is just too much in Hip Hop.

Bu bu bu but Nas just being nice

The irony is people are looking at drakes 2013 work as his peak....but wasnt he hated in 2013 on thecoli also?
People are quick to go back to old work when it doesnt matter anymore
I think drake has been making trap type rap that strays away from his ability
And i think he shown incredible growth as a universal artist

Not everybody can do what Drake does. He isn't just catchy. You can argue about writers but the GOATs have already put respect on Drake lyricism. It's more than being catchy

He's dominating more lanes than any rapper has in history

Cool. That has absolutely nothing to do with his lyrical ability.

I don't get this "if you go outside everybody is listening to drake" narrative, my nikka nobody is listens to drake like you think they do, and I don't know where in any hood nikkas are on their blocks blasting more life.

His lyrical ability ain't in question. Way ahead of anybody in at a mainstream bar kendrick. But he beats kendrick at a few thinks like quotable, witty bars. Memorable features etc

I find it strange that since Drake broke out on the scene in 2009, almost 10 years later he's still rapping about the same shyt. A 30 year old man who is still as self-involved as ever, whining about how his exes have the nerve to move on because, well don't they know he owns them? He has never displayed any concrete, eloquent opinions about anything happening outside of his immediate circle. He cares about nothing outside of his crew and his haters. He has not truly articulated an opinion on any sociopolitical topic besides "fukk Donald Trump" and a quick shoutout to police brutality when Meek had his back against the wall. Again, this is a 30 year old man with this limited subject matter...you should become LESS self-involved as you get older, not more.

And as far as his rap skillset, he's not evolving there and has indeed been stagnant for quite some time. Then you've got the ghostwriting scandal; I think he's been choosing to go it alone writing-wise since the QM exposal and you can see the stark difference. VIEWS really shined a light on Drake's weaknesses.

I've enjoyed some of Drake's music in the past but it's really becoming quite obvious that he's a shallow and selfish guy, an empty shell with very little substance as a person or as an MC. And in a desperate attempt to defer his demise, he's trying to latch onto and ride any wave he can to stay on top, even if it results in cheap imitation Carribean elevator music for quick hits or latching on to Grime rappers trying to ride their movement to remain seemingly relevant and edgy.

It is becoming more and more obvious every day: Drake is NOT a top MC, and him trying to play both sides won't work for much longer. He either has to take rap more seriously, or go full pop.
