Yea he had a single that worked. But given the options he passed on it's clear he went with the least commercial option.

Do I think Kendrick would've sold 2-3x as much, with physicals? No.

Do I think it would've affected his over all numbers? Yes, of course.

Do I think it'll affect his sales now? No, as rap releases tend to be first week heavy. More so than pretty much any other genre.

As far as Drake, the comparison isn't really fair. Drake was on literally every Spotify play list, regardless of genre, when "Scorpion" came out.

The song was still commercial and definitely not him going for the least commercial option. That Gaga song wasn't even commercial. There isn't ONE successful rap record featuring Gaga, but T-Minus productions were all over the charts in 2011-2012.

That's what I was talking about. Everybody is in here talking about Kendrick’s sales saying the album flopped. It's one thing to dislike the album. Seems like everybody has varying opinions on that. But breaking streaming records and having one of the highest-selling first weeks of the year aren't things you can apply to commercially unsuccessful albums.

I think the label set it up when they were going for “hits”. Remember fukkin Problems was originally Kendrick’s song. The Recipe was originally meant to be the first single for GKMC and they even shot a video but never released it.

Gaga was on Wale’s lead single from Attention Deficit as well.
