this is a pretty bad start for someone of kendrick's status, but i imagine that it'll be a slowburn saleswise. :francis:

tour numbers look solid tho; he should def reconsider the direction of his music going forward. projects like mr.morale are cool for just a few listens imo

One of you young brehs school me…if an album drops and I listen to the whole thing on Tidal or whatever streaming service, but don’t download it or anything, how is that calculated as far as sales? And each time I go back and listen again?
listening to over 30 seconds of a song gets counted as a stream you'd need to stream songs from the album 1250 times on a paid platform like tidal for your streams to equate to an album sale. 3750 streams on free platforms like YouTube (unless you have premium), then your stream is worth the same as a Tidal, Apple Music, or Paid Spotify stream.

Check the numbers. Outside of Count me out and silent hill Nobody is really listening to the second disc. The first disc is getting okay but N95 is really booming

And people thought disappearing for 5 years wouldn’t affect his sales. This album really wasn’t anything super interesting or new either, just standard Kendrick Lamar raps.

This is an interesting one to judge. On the surface, thats an underperformance objectivley

But then you realize theres no merch/phyiscal copies/digital copies being sold so this all streaming presumably

His tour selling out quickly, the singles charting quick and the older albums entering the chart though would suggest hes still relevant and fans are checkin for him

Feels like what Weekdn and Cole went through where their numbers are down but still a big deal and touring. Not sure if this is just the natural slide of his audience growing older too and not doing streaming parties/all buying albums same time etc etc

Not a flop but on one hand I expected more. That said I listened to it once and deleted the album from my Apple Music. Not bad but I have no plans on listening to it again
