But as a basketball player he'll never be one of the greatest in the eyes of the people.

and thats the real shame in this

Durant is already an all time great player. Before this even happened if he were to retire, he'd be top 30 all time. and he's just 28 years old.

It's just being petty to ignore the fact that he's one of the best basketball players this game will ever see.

That's great.

But maybe since you were the leader of the team in OKC, if you weren't having fun, you were probably part of the reason why.

All this shyt does....WHILE IT'S GREAT FOR HIM IN GOLDEN STATE....is shed light on the reality that for as great as Kevin Durant is as a player...he seems to be much more of a follower than anything.

Lebron started the AAU culture of superteams...

The quote about him not knowing enough about baskeball reinforces what I thought of him before. That's why I always shake my head when he was being mentionned in the same sentence as Lebron. Despite the stats and the fact that I'm a Bron-hater, Durant is not in that category.

Maybe he makes the jump now that he acknowledges it though.
Bron had to go to Miami to learn how to win.

KD got what he wants. The chance to win without it being on his shoulders :yeshrug:. He didn't want to be the guy, didn't want the stress and the pressure, and wanted to go be one of the guys. Cool thing. They'll likely win multiple titles. But as a basketball player he'll never be one of the greatest in the eyes of the people. He'll put up crazy stats but he ran from the challenge. It ain't like Bron when Bron was dragging and pulling garbage teams along, he had a top 5 teammate, a top 5 center and was up 3-1 and was a large reason why his team lost game 6 and 7 because he choked. Then he went to the team that beat him. Glad he's happy, he's just a beta
Like I said before, If he stayed he would've been Karl Malone. Top 3 scorer of alltime with no rings.

If KD doesn't wanna lead, fine. I don't know why y'all get up in arms about this. Ain't like he did y'all dirty. Think about it. Y'all are unhappy KD didn't stay in OKC to lose some more. If it's not in him it's not in him. Champion the next one who does.
I don't got an issue with KD leaving OKC, but you gotta be a fool to not know that's part of the issue people have with it. Him staying in OKC wasn't a guarantee that he was going to "lose some more", considering they were 1 game away from being in the Finals this past season (and choked away what was a 3-1 lead, partly or mainly because of him).

I said 'one of the greatest' meaning top 10-15 level reserved for the best of the best.

Nah, he had no say so in how the team shared the ball. Russ wasn't having that. And if you read the article he wasn't just talking about on the court stuff per se. Golden State is just a more loose atmosphere. That's why Steph is usually smiling on the sidelines.

Are you seriously fukking retarded? Did you watch any Thunder games last year? Any, whatsoever? Does the fact he always had double digit assists just pass you by or something? I honestly think you're retarded. He did share the ball with Durant, he shared it with everyone on the team, but he also was and HAD TO BE the secondary scorer on that team.

You act like he never handled the ball, he did a lot, it's why he turned it over so much as well.

I wouldn't reply to someone I thought was retarded. Enjoy your evening.

Nah, that's like saying Kobe and Shaq had equal influence in '01. If Shaq wanted to run 1 offense and Kobe wanted to run a different offense they would have to meet in the middle. Obviously KD wants to be in a ball movement system. You'll never get that with Russ as your point guard.

You definitely are retarded.

A ball movement system with Steven Adams, Serge Ibaka, and Andre Roberson. Ya, it was Russ's fault they can't have a ball movement system rather than the personnel they had.

KD wants to have less pressure and less responsibility because HE WASN'T GOOD ENOUGH TO WIN A TITLE. He, not them, as he stopped believing in himself. The team was capable of winning a title, but he gave up on that idea and he left. Stop this nonsense about trying to pin shyt on Russell for Durant leaving when Durant left because he's a bytch that thought he couldn't get it done.

More likely than not he'll put together a career worthy of top 15 consideration, and be the 3rd best SF to ever play with an outside shot at Bird.

In 1968 MVP Wilt Chamberlain and the #1 record 76ers lost a 3-1 lead to the Boston Celtics. He didn't shoot in the 2nd half of game 7 amid frustration with his team and coach. He demanded a trade to the team that Boston beat in the Finals, joining Jerry West & Elgin Baylor.

Nobody ever talks about this when ranking him among the greats and I'd hope people don't talk about Durant's decison when ranking him either 30 years from now. because at the end of the day all that matters is how good they are at basketball.

Last year was their best shot and choked. We just wanna believe OKC was gonna figure it out even though the Warriors would have a healthy Curry and perhaps a less idiotic Green (along with more additions). KD leaving OKC removes the threat completely. That's why people are upset. It still doesn't change the likely outcome of Cavs /Dubs III
