not too mention Iverson only averaged over 20 once in the last 7 years of his career...

You do realize websites separate the statlines by team if he's played on more than one squad in a season, right? :aicmon:

So how the hell did he win 5 of those things?

I nominate you to stfu.

Piggybackin shaq for 3 and gasol being his 1a option for 2

not too mention Iverson only averaged over 20 once in the last 7 years of his career...

:rudy: This is what happens when you look up stats and can't read,as soon as I read this comment I knew it was inaccurate

Iverson averaged 26.4,26.3,30.7,26.4 in 5 of his last 7 seasons in the nba you read his stats the wrong and it proves you couldn't have been watching ball then either

Cool, what about the wins? What about the fact he has one of the worst assist to turnover ratios in the league and he's playing with the "best center in the league". Kobe scored 42pts on 26 shots, had 5 turnovers, a bare minimum of 40 possessions and even more where he touched the ball and all he had to show for it was 2 assists. When he acts as a facilitator first and scorer second, they win, when he tries to black out and win the game himself, they lose. Teams are winning in spite of his big games because they slow everyone else down, and he doesn't seem to notice it.

AI averaged 33ppg, 7apg and shot 45% from the field, his team was 35-47. There's something to be said about dominating the ball and putting up hollow stats in losses.

:mindblown:

facilitate to who? He's far and away their best scorer...Kobe is not a point guard...why are we still doing this silly shyt 17 years into his career? it'd be one thing if he were talking some career loser, but he's become the most prolific winner of his era playing his brand of ball....you do not want your 34 year old all world shooting guard who's scoring at the most effiecent clip of his career being your primary playmaker (it's the reason why MJ played almost exclusively off the ball in the 2nd 3peat)....what sense does it make to on one hand knock him for his assist/to numbers, then in the next breath insist that he should facilitate more? :dwillhuh:...the two things are directly related....trying to force plays for his teammates is what leads to the turnovers...it's precisely the same problem they had late in games against the Thunder last year in the playoffs... he absolutely shouldn't be asked to be the primary playmaker in a point guard driven offense...especially not in this stage of his career...and that he is doing so is for no other reason than that with nash out, the lakers have the absolute worst point guard rotation in the league...and that's not an issue of "kobe being washed up putting up empty stats" (the very concept of scoring damn 30pts a game at 61% TS% having no impact on a game is some :mindblown: shyt that would ONLY be said to downplay kobe)...it's a weakness and shortcoming of the team...along with a terrible bench, lack of consistent 3point shooting and lack of athleticism on the perimeter (which kobe plays a part in too, but is why you surround your aging star with pieces to cover up his weaknesses)....mind you, this isn't a "Kobe right now is blameless and an absolutely perfect player" thread...it's a "Kobe right now is basically washed up and should retire thread" like he hasn't been playing at a top 5 All NBA 1st Team level this year, but on a team with some serious and real flaws

Didn't read past this point, he has a pick and roll big on his team, use him.

Yeah but right now you're acting like Kobe is even the 3rd or 4th biggest reason that they're losing.

Firstly they cannot play ANY defense whatsoever and Kobe Bryant is 1 player out of 5 so that is a team fault.

Secondly they cannot get any spacing on offense and cannot score period... Kobe is their number 1 option and best scorer, having one of his most efficient scoring years ever... it has to go through him. Dwight is shooting literally below 50% from the FT line and isn't 100% healthy. He still is averaging around his career totals in rebounding and scoring so I don't know what more the Lakers can do for him... feed him even more? You think Dwight needs more touches and that will translate into him averaging 30 and 20? It's not a linear correlation.

Thirdly Pau Gasol

Fourthly this is the worst producing bench in the NBA

Finally D'antoni is running the starters into the ground

This is coming from someone who's watched EVERY SINGLE GAME so far, and I've watched at LEAST 75% of the total games since about 2006

So that defenders can help from the wings (lack of shooters and spacing) and kobe can rack up more turnovers forcing the ball to Dwight that you'll subsequently use against him in arguments like these? Kobe is not a point guard

He's the best player on a team with the best center in the league, anyone else gets blasted for this and he's getting all types of excuses.

Dwight needs someone to set him up, he's not Bynum where you can dump the ball into him and let him work. You say he's averaging around his career totals, shouldn't he be better considering those career numbers came with Hedo Turkey-Glue setting him up. If Kobe actually put his mind to getting Dwight the ball in easy scoring positions off the PnR, you don't think he could?

Any other player turning the ball over like this in losses is getting crushed, except for Kobe. Big stats in losses, that is exactly what AI was doing, which is what my point had been.

If the Lakers could play defense like you're doing for Kobe :wow:

You don't need to be a PG to run the PnR :aicmon: and if Kobe was actually trying to set Dwight up for easy baskets I wouldn't say anything, but that damn sure isn't happening.

The problem is your asking the leading scorer in the NBA to also be the one to facilitate and find one player when he's infact a shooting guard, and that one player is automatic brick from the FT line and not healthy. The more they feed Dwight it doesn't necessarily mean he's going to get buckets or do more damage either way. I mean it's hard to facilitate when there's games where you score more than half your teams points and you're still struggling...while Kobe was playing like shyt against the Pacers for example, the rest of the Lakers had like a combined 15-20 points on 25% shooting or something of that nature. Kobe has definitely a share of the blame when it comes to this bad stretch but people are definitely over stating it without actually watching the games.

There is NOTHING Kobe could do individually that would make this team win games. He could shoot 55% and have 8 assists that wouldn't change the main flaws.

Kobe is dominating right now 29/5/5 on a 61% TS(48% from the field):ooh:

This thread makes no sense:russ:
scoring wise he is currently the best player
ofensively its Lebron or KD

but here is where the lakers has issues..

FGM-A 31-75
Kobe FGM-A 16-28

obviosly all the fouls are not showing the real numbers...

but those numbers shows one thing... he grabs the ball and shoot...

obviously the other players will just stand around waiting to see what happens instead of transitioning.

then he had 2 assist and 5 turnovers...

he is the best scorer right now.. but offensive is not just the scoring.. its' the assist, offensive rebounds and passes...

not only is their defense bad.. but the offensive is not flowing right... its a one or 2 man game .. and the worst part is.. most teams let Kobe have his way knowing the rest of the team will lower their intensity since the wont touch the ball that often.

but i gotta say... his fg% is something else for how many shots he takes.. if the team was younger they would have a winning record.

Again, Allen Iverson averaged 33ppg the season they were 35-47, you don't see the correlation yet, and he didn't have anyone half as good as Dwight. Getting Dwight involved is just running the pick and roll, that's basically all you have to do with that simple nikka. You bring up Kobe playing like shyt against the Pacers, and yet blame that on his teammates somehow, nevermind the fact he had 3 assists, 10 turnovers and shot the ball 28 times, you're looking at nearly 50 possessions where Kobe had the ball once you factor in freethrow attempts as well. What team on earth can get into a rhythm when a dude that "isn't a facilitator" has the ball literally everytime up the court.

There is NOTHING Kobe could do individually that would make this team win games. He could shoot 55% and have 8 assists that wouldn't change the main flaws.

The numbers say differently, he nearly doubles up on his assist totals when they win and almost halves his turnovers.

Basically!

Like the stat about our record being 1 and 10 when he scores over thirty. That's the most bogus stat BY FAR. In Houston, we had a 17 point lead and he had well over 30 and our defense fell apart and we lost. Against the Pacers everybody not named Kobe and Dwight shot, 3 for 26 from the field, he ended up with over 30 by necessity and we lose. And there are more examples of this, but I think I made my point.

So there are 1 of 2 things going on...

1) You know that stats can lie depending on the circumstance of the game and your just choosing to ignore them so you can shyt on Kobe

2) You don't watch the game and just recycle some stat you heard on the postgame to shyt on Kobe.

Kobe is efficient as fukk! He is the least of our problems.

If Durant was doing everything he could for his team to win, was scoring efficiently and his team was still losing, you would never see me trying to lay their losses at his feet.

Adrian Peterson is carrying a football team on his back! He IS THE TEAM! But going by the logic of this thread, he's a fukking bum because his team is still losing. It doesn't make sense!
