All I know is Kristaps has a lot to prove next season. He better be Anthony Davis or Towns.
Cause he's a unicorn now. But many bigs can shoot 3s in the league and all these new incoming F/C rookies and high schoolers are raised watching KD and they're all learning to dribble.
I don't see any players coming in the league with kyrie type skill set anytime soon though.
People seem to forget Kyrie won Cavs their title
last year
Rim protection -
That is what separates him from a lot of these big men that just shoot threes, being able to guard the rim in addition to stretching the floor is a huge commodity and a skillset that very few bigs have.
The Knicks should be grooming him as a center now, his first two years were at PF because his body wasn't ready for the 5, but now that he looks to be getting stronger having him at the 5 and pairing him with a multi-dimensional PF should be their goal.
I mean I get it, Kristaps has a good potential to be an amazing two way player. But why not replace his scoring with a player like kyrie and find a defensive specialist down the line in a trade or free agency or even draft.
Kyrie hasn't either.I just dont think Kristaps is untouchable like players like Giannis, Towns or Embiid. Those are franchise changing players. Kristaps hasnt proven himself to be that yet, although he's exceeded expectations and can develop into that. but that will take some time.
You don't trade 7 footers that can get you buckets, stretch the floor and provide elite rim protection saying you can replace him with a defensive specialist down the line.
Kyrie hasn't either.
If the Knicks play their cards right, they can sign Kyrie outright in a couple years. They just drafted a 19 year old with a lottery pick, don't think they're worried about taking 2-3 years to continue to develop.
Like Porzingis? Then they'll need to find an elite defender who hopefully can stretch the floor. In todays NBA so many bigs can stretch the floor.
Golden State would literally run that lineup out of the building. So would a lot of teams actually. That defense would not work out.Even if you could play Porzingis at the 5, that would leave the Cavs with a massive hole at PG. And TT getting $20 million a year to sit on the bench.
Unless...how do teams defend this?
PG: Lebron
SG: JR/Shump
SF: Porzingis
PF: Love
Center: TT
That would be like taking that weird positionless Nets team to the next level.
And with D-Rose and Porzingis there, you might actually have enough offense to let Lebron sit on the bench instead of running the 2nd unit.
nikkas acting like porzingis the next larry bird or some shyt
