The psychology behind this is that niceness can cross the line into appearing needy and clingy. If you fall into those categories, women feel like they have to mother you to make you feel safe and you don't want to play the role of the needy child who needs a mothers attention and approval with your sexual partner. It's not sexy and it's not sustainable. Just don't cross that line. Like @FilliBuster said be nice to her but have her cater to you too.
