Practice by doing too. It's more so the thinking like a programmer that is the difficult part than programming itself..

When you get over the initial 6 months, you will notice how your brain adapts your thinking and makes the changes you need that allow you to think more logically. I

Some stuff to check when you got the basics on grasp.

Practice coding with fun programming challenges - CodinGame (check this out)

About - Project Euler
Exercises designed to improve programming skills
Sphere Online Judge (SPOJ) - Problems
CodeKata
Contest Page | CodeChef

The brain is a muscle, work it out!

In the Silver Lining
Been doing this for a few weeks now. Its my new addiction.

What language?

How long u spend trying bruh? The learning curve is very steep and demands 100% attention because it's nothing like you've ever learned before.

I said the dame thing about programming years ago until I gave it a real solid effort.

I'd re commend 3+ months of effort at least before giving up on it for anyone that wants to try

So basically a 3 month coding academy will let you know if it is something to push forward with right.:lupe:

this seems like a gamble. you learn all that stuff and there is no guarantee that you are getting a job since you taught yourself with no school and having no past work experience. Would a recruiter even give you the time of day? :ohhh: or is this geared towards people building their own stuff/company?

i'm not interested though; just asking out of curiosity and not trying to put people's hopes down.

:wow:

How can learning a skill be a gamble my G! What about posting on the coli?
You have 6000+ posts. Lets say each post took 2 minutes to compose.

Altogether that is 12000 mins = 200 hours of time spent on here posting.
Imagine learning this for 2 hours a day, 5 x a week = 200 hours in 6 months approx.

In roughly 6 months you will have a good grasps on the basics in a good skill that you can keep building on.. & you can do whatever you want with it.

If its a gamble, it sounds like good odds to me,
