Have you ever played basketball before? People want to touch the ball to feel apart of the game. That's why teams with lots of ball movement win the most. Great coaches like Phil Jackson say things like "the ball has energy" for a reason. The more players touch the ball, the harder they'll play on defense. The Cavs main problem all year has been DEFENSE not offense. And the best way to motivate players to play better defense is for them to touch the ball on offense. When the Cavs play like they did in game 2 where its all LeBron all the time on offense, they become horrible defensively. With LeBron leading the way. However, when they share the ball like they did last night, and their leader actually plays some defense, they collectively play better defense too.
Stop thinking sports can be reduced to math equations. Basketball is more like art or chemistry. Guys need to feel good to play good. And the best way to feel good as a basketball player is to see the ball on offense. LeBron dominating the ball and kicking it out to guys to spot up and shoot doesn't do that. However, LeBron playing more off the ball and allowing others to touch the ball and run the offense helps the team play better overall and ultimately win.
This is why great coaches don't run the type of offense the Cavs run with LeBron even when they have equally great players. See the Bulls and Lakers with Phil Jackson. Kobe and Jordan never played the way LeBron does because Phil Jackson was smart enough to know that isn't how you win championships. You need an offense where everyone touches the ball to win. Not an offense where one guy is pounding the ball every play for 20 seconds.
