When the Kobe vs Bron shyt was on Bron defenders main go-to was that you could visually see he was a better basketball player than Kobe was at the same age, and supported that argument with how Bron played the game.

Straight up ducktales. There wasn't anybody using the eye test to argue Bron over Kobe. Everyone with eyes could see Kobe was better at everything outside of passing. The only arguement Bron stans had was stat based. They would rattle off Bron averaging more points, rebounds, and assists. And if it wasn't stats they would mention him carrying a less talented Cavs team to more regular season wins. Conviently ignoring the fact he played in the weak Eastern Conference.

You might be too young to know better given how much you hate on early 2000s legends like T-Mac, Vince, and A.I., but those of us in the know remember those debates. Kobe vs LeBron was the main debate back then. Go back and look up old First Take footage on ESPN of Skip Bayless arguing against guys like Chris Broussard. Kobe had the players, coaches, and GMs saying he was the best. He also had the rings. Very similar to the position Bron is at right now. Bron on the other hand had the numbers gong for him. Similar to Giannis, Embiid, and Luka do right now. Bron stans like @Rhakim used to focus almost exclusively on these stats to argue Bron was better despite the fact everyone in the NBA (including LeBron) was saying Kobe was the best.

I just find the switch up now that Bron is in Kobe's position as the OG in the league coming from Bron stans to be hilarious. All those years of just talking numbers but now they wanna mention GMs and players when it comes to determining whose the best.

Do you remember a show called Cold Pizza/First & 10/First Take? It was on ESPN every morning. It was hosted by this white dude from Cleveland who used to stan the Cavs and LeBron. Skip Bayless would argue different people everyday on a range of topics. Kobe vs LeBron was a consistent theme. Guys like Chris Broussard used to be on that show.

Skip was a Kobe guy back then so he would always argue Kobe was the best. He would cite Kobe's "clutch gene" and rings as the main reason he was better than LeBron. Broussard would rattle off numbers to say Bron was better. They even had the 2 Live Stews on there a bunch. One of the brothers was a Kobe stan while the other wasn't. They would do the same arguments.

If you're 32, how could you say what you just said? Once again, did you not have a TV? Did you not watch ESPN? You know Skip Bayless used to be on the air back then? Give Giannis a sidekick who can close like Kyrie and he wins rings. Yes he's a liability late but he does everything else at an elite level. All he needs is another star by his side who can cover that flaw. Similar to LeBron.

Embiid is the best player in the NBA because he's the most well-rounded. Elite on both sides of the floor. Able to create his own shot in the clutch. His only weakness is durability. Jokic is not an elite defender hence why he isn't anywhere close to Embiid.

I've pointed out the distinction between internet-consumed Kobe heads and real life ones many times before, in the real world the vast majority of Kobe heads in that debate were NOT arguing that Kobe was better at playing basketball than LeBron. Everybody and their mom saw LeBron coming and there was an acknowledgement of it even if you took the Kobe side of the debate...
