That's not business skill. That's friendship and friendship. Technically it's good business, but these contracts negotiate themselves. He's not getting Seth Curry and Robert Covington max deals and Nike contracts.

Dude I am not talking about Nike contracts.

Lebron had his dudes go get trained under major agencies and apprentices with no degrees. Then when they got experience they quit and had them run his company and manage his investments. Then his agent he had him work for one of the biggest agencies in then country as an agent with then sole purpose to get exp. Then his agent quits Lebron fronts him the money to start a agency and Lebron signs with him.

His agent then uses having Lebron the biggest or second biggest star in the league as a way to sign free agents with his new agency. Lebron and his agents agency has multiple NBA players signed and potentially has the 1st overall pick this year as well signed to their agency.

That is not counting Lebron creating investment deals (blaze pizza, beats by Dre the energy strip)that players never did which was turn down endorsement money for a portion of the company. That is why Lebron made 30 million when Beats by Dre.

That is not even getting into this dudes production company or that he owns a small minority portion of the Liverpool soccer team.

"James this year let lapse his endorsement deal with McDonald’s Corp., instead throwing his weight behind the Blaze Pizza chain, in which he is an investor. Last week James’s multimedia venture, called Uninterrupted, secured a $15.8 million investment from Warner Bros. Entertainment and Turner Sports.

His lifetime deal with Nike could eventually become something similar to Michael Jordan’s. Jordan, 52, is officially the chief executive officer of the Jordan Brand, which continues to release new shoes. Sales of Air Jordan brand shoes topped $2.6 billion last year, according to Forbes.

Such an open-ended deal is very rare. Soccer star David Beckham reportedly has a lifetime deal with Adidas, according to ESPN. Allen Iverson at one time signed with Reebok in what the Associated Press called a "lifetime deal," although those sometimes refer to a player’s career, not his mortality."

Yea rich paul and lebron was with CAA until they both left and started an agency company :wow:

Low key that's a GOAT move:wow:

LeBron James has left longtime agent Leon Rose and the Creative Artists Agency and will join a newly formed agency led by longtime friend Rich Paul, sources told ESPN.

It is more of a new partnership than a breakup, sources said, as James is not making the move because of any hard feelings with Rose or his longtime partner William "Wes" Wesley. Paul only has been an agent for a few years, working under Rose at CAA, but quickly has earned the respect of league executives and owners.

The Sports Business Journal first reported James was changing agencies.

The switch to Paul could be the beginning of a shift of power in the NBA. Paul represented rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, the No. 2 overall pick of the Charlotte Bobcats, Cleveland Cavaliers forwardTristan Thompson and Los Angeles Clippers guard Eric Bledsoeamong others at CAA.

According to sources, Paul is expected to take some players with him to his new agency as is standard practice in the business. CAA also represents 2013 free agent-to-be Chris Paul, who is one of James' closest friends and is also close to Rich Paul. The two are not related.

James has been reorganizing his business affairs since joining the Heat. In 2011, he turned over his marketing management to Fenway Sports Group and received a piece of ownership in Liverpool FC in return.

James was at the centerpiece of CAA's rise to prominence in the NBA during the past five years. James signed with Rose in 2005, when he left his first agent, Aaron Goodwin. Two years later, CAA purchased Rose's practice and the right to do business with James.

Rose negotiated James' last two contracts, an extension with the Cavs in 2006 and a six-year deal with the Heat in 2010. James has an opt-out clause in his deal in 2014.

Rose and fellow CAA agent Henry Thomas, who represents James' Heat teammates Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, worked closely together in bringing the stars together two years ago. Representing those three players in addition to other top stars who recently switched teams -- notably Carmelo Anthony and Chris Paul -- made CAA a major power broker.

James and Rich Paul met when the former was a teenager and quickly formed a strong relationship. By the time James reached the NBA in 2003, Paul had become one of his closest friends and confidants. When James left Goodwin and formed his own marketing company, LRMR, Paul became a business partner.

Paul organized events and for-profit parties for James and even did some fashion modeling. But Paul started focusing on player representation four years ago when he joined CAA.

Breh that was a cold blooded move and the type of shyt you see in corporate America.

This dude I know has a mentor that is now a CEO. Well the Dude who is a CEO had a mentor that basically put him on the fast track.

So the dude that is a CEO now (over a subsidiary company that is part of a larger fortune 500 company) was once a SR level manager for another fortune 500 company. The CEO had a mentor who worked for the parent company (of the subsidiary company he now with) as an executive but wanted to get the dude (who is now a CEO) over to his company and set him up to be a CEO of the subsidiary company.

Anyway to make a long story short the executive has this dude work for the parent company as a director and then a VP for about 4 years overall just training him to take over as the CEO of the subsidiary.

Then out of the blue 4 years later the CEO of the subsidiary company is asked to step down and the dude who was trained for 4 years as a director and VP is taken from the parent company and moved into the CEO spot of the subsidiary company.

:salute: the brotha. His on-court prowess and statistical accomplishments are unquestionable.

He just doesn't always handle himself well socially. :manny:

Imagine a Millennial asking Bird why he " tweeted " after a close game in the 80's :russ:

For real, Lebron's business skills are so underrated.

He made himself a brand and negotiated the first lifetime deal with Nike. His children and grandchildren are guaranteed wealth because of this deal.

I respect Lebron and am sick of all the hate with people callin him Lethot and shyt and then dikkriding Curry.

Currys father was an NBA player millionaire who hired NBA caliber coaches for Curry and his siblings from Kindergarden. Same for Klay.

Players like Drose and Lebron were dealt a shytty fukkin hand, growing up with no real resources but being able to dominate through sheer ambition and skill.

Im supposed to hate Lebron and cheer for his downfall and failures? In favor a kid with a silver spoon in his mouth? fukk that hope Lebron gets the ring this year

Or when Lebron tries fixing up his team firing a useless coach and trying to make things work for Cleveland, and people on here criticizing him and supporting Blatt like wtf? Like they want Lebron to remain a fukkin pawn or something.

and im not even get into the dumbest criticism ive seen yet of Lebron "he posts too many videos of his sons, he needs to stop posting his sons on IG and stop going to their games".
