The fact that within the space of a few games, Lebron could effectively defend athletic bigs like 6'10" Blake Griffin and 7'3" Kristaps Porziņģis on some days, then switch it up to swallow up 6'1" point guards like Kemba Walker and Dennis Schroder on other days, makes no sense at all.

HES HAD 3-4 GAMES WHERE HE DECIDED TO PLAY DEFENSE IN THE 4TH QUARTER.

Breh knows what he's doing. He's been playing, basketball wise, for a million years. Self preservation in anticipation for the offs.

Still the best player in the game. Don't even see how anyone can dispute. At his age, and considering all the games he's played, it's crazy how much impact he still has on both sides of the floor.

Yup
Everybody running they mouth when the Cavs aren’t doing so hot and not playing good defense.

Now everyone quiet though.

marc got soft , he can score but cant guard player from GS
Deandre can protect the pain but cant score

Gasol is still a plus defender and elite rim protector. The fact that he can do that while being a real threat on the offensive end makes him special. Add in his work ethic and the fact that he doesn't need to dominate the ball at all, and the fact that his team might have real reason to trade him, and I think he's one of the best fits out there for Cleveland at the 5.

Golden State nearly always has a player on the floor that Gasol can guard - not just Zaza/McGee/West, but you could put him on Draymond the way he's been playing, even switch him onto Iggy without getting killed the way you would have a couple years ago. He's not like TT because he can't switch everything, but I think the Cavs would happily take that tradeoff and instead implement a defensive strategy that allows their perimeter defenders to really pressure guys up top knowing that Gasol will be hanging back for the help defense in an intelligent fashion and making life much harder for the opponent than it's been around the rim.

The Warriors only hit 71 threes against the Cavs in the Finals. I mean, that's a big number, but it didn't single-handedly win the series for them. More than 2/3 of Golden State's shots are still twos, and they got to the line 128 times too, five more than Cleveland even with Lebron and Kyrie driving to the hole all game. Gasol would be a big addition against GS even with their lineups.

I'm not blowing anything out of proportion - he didn't have a "great" defensive game. He played good defense in spurts, and then took possessions off, as he's typically done over the last couple of seasons. There's a difference between playing "free safety" (which Draymond does), and just aimlessly wandering around leaving players unguarded and/or hanging around the rim to pad his rebound #s.

That's not what I classify as a great defensive performance.

:manny:

:russ: I thought you were a Bron fan. He getting the Harden treatment from you now?

Bron has played exceptional, versatile defense. Draymond is the better rim protector but he can’t guard the perimeter the way Lebron can. You rarely see Draymond guard a team’s best perimeter player.

And smh at accusing him of stat padding like he’s Westbrook or something.

LeBron James guarded Dennis Schroder, Hawks with beautiful mind

Coach Tyronn Lue said James' job guarding Schroder was "one of the best I've seen all year."

"He's a great position defender against those point guards," Lue said. "Knowing how to give him space, but also being able to contest his shot, also be able to contest him at the basket because he's bigger. He knows how to play those point guards pretty well."

He guards bigs by disrupting them with his footspeed and quick reflexes

He guards smaller guards by disrupting them with his size

But when it comes to a bigger wing like kd that can match him with size and speed...
:francis:

Well all seen the playoffs.

:mjlol:

First, there only ONE kd in NBA history. Yes, it's tough to guard a 7' wing with speed, handles, and an all-time jump shot when he's surrounded by legendary jump shooters and you have no rim protector behind you. :ohhh:

And that's before we even get into Lebron playing 46 minute games at 32 while doing everything on offense, then supposed to guard their star on defense. :francis:

You sounds like those LWO fools who were saying that Dikembe* wasn't shyt on defense because he didn't stop Shaq in the Finals that one time. :snoop:

* this off topic, but my spell check tries to change "Dikembe" into "dismember" :bryan:

So kd didn't out work him in the playoffs?ok then.
You can't win that argument simply because KD's offense simply outplayed LeBron's defense. You Don't need a big man to recover and block shots if your man ain't blowing by you
:mjlol:
And who cares about legendary "jump shooters"that ain't a testament to LeBrons defense, he ain't guarding them, that's a testament to how good the warriors are. LeBron ain't force the ball towards these "legendary jump shooters" kd outplayed him at the SF position.
