depends on what you're talking about.

If you think a trap beat like "Meet me at the Trap" by Yung Joc is dope just b/c it's not sampled, then I disagree completely. But something like "Mi No Compadre" from Future is incredible IMO. Even tho many fans will throw it in w/ other trap beats, there's alot to that composition and the way it's put together is crazy.

On the other hand, some of these dudes who chop samples nowadays are INSANELY talented. I'm not talking about the Kanye-ea of looped chipmunk samples. These dudes now are on another level.

every now and then this retarded topic pops up.

Trap beats are 99% :trash: and individually have zero staying power

Meanwhile there are boom bap beats made DECADES ago that are still hot.

No matter how many times some of y'all make this thread, the sun will not revolve around the earth. and your attempts to pretend are getting :russell:

sampling is what hip hop is built on, im sick of this narrative that sampling takes no skill.. you couldn't juggle two records on turntables to make the simplest of loops. (which is how it started) stop it fam :smh:

do you know how to take a bassline from one track and sample just that ? and lay your own melodies.. because that's common as well.

meanwhile we got the biggest star in hip pop, not writing his own rhymes

He influenced a whole era. You're fooling yourself. You purists are the worst thing about hip-hop.
I'm not a purist bruh, or a Lex hater, in fact I like most his beats.

There's just some shyt you can't say bruh, his influence comes mostly from the popularity of certain bangers he produced, he didn't induce creative thinking, just brought shameless opportunists to the mainstream. :scusthov:

You have to understand: guys like DrX aren't interested in hip hop. They're pop fans. Whatever's popular they'll listen to it without a second thought. That easily disposable non-threatening dull basic shyt... they can relate to it.

We've seen their type before. They come and go.
