Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
What are some middle class/nice black areas in ny, not Brownsville

Brooklyn - Flatlands, Mill Basin, Canarsie,

Queens - Laurelton, Cambria Heights, Rosedsle, St. Albans, Queens Village
Bronx - North Bronx and There are many in southeast Bronx

Staten Island - is mixed so I can’t really say there is a black area there.

As far as the suburbs go there are two areas that have been on the top wealthiest black community list before in America. Hillcrest in Rockland County and Wheatley Heights in Suffolk county Li.

Here is Riverdale a section of the Bronx by the 1 train that is literally in its own world.

When I relocated to NYC and was living in the UWS, I met folks that attended Fieldston.

I think I may have driven through Riverdale on a trip up the Hudson.

Chicago south side: Hyde Park

Louis Farrakhan’s house. He has 24 hour security on guard

Obama’s former house. I think he sold this property

This isn't Hyde Park. This is Kenwood.

Strivers Row Central Harlem

My family lived in that neighborhood during the Harlem Renaissance.

Gary, Indiana (one of the highest murder rates in the country)

I remember going to Miller Beach as a kid. My mother's best friend owned a lake-facing cottage and would pick us up for the weekend so we could go to the beach.

Indiana has a lot of industrial activity on its shores which is different from Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan whom try to keep their shorelines pristine.

When we would go to the beach, it would be dead fish everywhere because the waters were so polluted. Indiana did not regulate the amount of industrial waste that factories were dumping in the lake.

That scarred me as a kid and I've never been back to an Indiana beach since then.

That's what happens with Republican leadership who don't give af about maintaining the natural environment.

Does marble hill claim the Bronx or Manhattan? They use a Manhattan area code right?
I was referring more so to the people. Its a lil inside joke in the Bronx. Its all the Bronx but I believe there is an actual overlap in that area with due to like you said the 212 area code. I'm not 100% sure but I believe it's actually in Wikipedia or something.

This area of Jackson Boulevard on the West Side of Chicago is called the "Emerald Necklace". It is located just a block south of Madison Avenue which was Chicago's historic skid row. It was completely out of place for this area.

Now the entire area surrounding it has been subsumed into the West Loop which has become one of the wealthiest neighborhoods in the city due to becoming the neighborhood of choice for many tech companies to land including Google.

South Side Chicago to Nola
Compton? Oakland? Stl? Atl zone 6, dc, Baltimore? New Orleans?

in New Orleans East there are pockets of really nice neighborhoods especially off lake forest and in East over, the East gets a bad rap but it is really nice, the garden district and Audubon park of New Orleans

On the south side of Chicago, that pill hill area ( south side of the lake, the Beverly Morgan park area of the south side as well

it's actually Manhattan, but they wouldn't give them 212, they fought for it:mjlol:

once upon a time (1800s) it was connected to Manhattan and not the Bronx. they sliced it off to make a canal, making it an island. then they threw some landfill on the other side, and connected it to the Bronx. but it remained technically Manhattan, is still part of the political district with Washington heights and Inwood, etc

I love seeing nice areas of the Bronx because when I think of the Bronx, I think straight:merchant:

I even look up houses in the bx just to see the nice spots.

Anybody on here from there, what is gentrification lookin like there?
