it's actually Manhattan, but they wouldn't give them 212, they fought for it:mjlol:

once upon a time (1800s) it was connected to Manhattan and not the Bronx. they sliced it off to make a canal, making it an island. then they threw some landfill on the other side, and connected it to the Bronx. but it remained technically Manhattan, is still part of the political district with Washington heights and Inwood, etc
Haha. Aint that some shyt

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
I love seeing nice areas of the Bronx because when I think of the Bronx, I think straight:merchant:

I even look up houses in the bx just to see the nice spots.

Anybody on here from there, what is gentrification lookin like there?

They are trying to turn Mott Haven into LIC as we speak. They are building luxury high rises there. It’s the main area being gentrified in the Bronx so far. Not much other areas.

I remember going to Miller Beach as a kid. My mother's best friend owned a lake-facing cottage and would pick us up for the weekend so we could go to the beach.

Indiana has a lot of industrial activity on its shores which is different from Illinois, Wisconsin, and Michigan whom try to keep their shorelines pristine.

When we would go to the beach, it would be dead fish everywhere because the waters were so polluted. Indiana did not regulate the amount of industrial waste that factories were dumping in the lake.

That scarred me as a kid and I've never been back to an Indiana beach since then.

That's what happens with Republican leadership who don't give af about maintaining the natural environment.

Absolutely. Republican leadership is a crime to humanity. Not surprised they chose a toxic waste site over the environment.

You know as many times as I have been to New York I havent spent any significant time in the Bronx....

If I swing through later this year I might have to walk around and check out the borough

To see the parts of the Bronx that are nice you have to take the 1 train and also take the 6 train to the last stop or the stops close to the last stop.

The 5 train to Dyre Avenue also runs through nice areas also. Morris Park, Pelham and Eastchester. Also the very last stop of the 4 train.

The 2, all of the stop of 4 before the last stop and B/D trains on the other hand

Its a wrap. The got alderwoman Tilman out the paint, when she was trying to make moves in developing those areas..

Thats going to be south loop soon..

I was just reading the alderman in Washington park was complaining about the rising rents saying it doesn't reflect the area and the tenants there can't afford it. You already know what that means.

East Woodlawn is already priced way higher than one would ever expect. West Woodlawn is still affordable, I'm in the market and that's my main spot. But those parkways...:francis:

They'll be tearing those down soon, I'm sure.

Can't believe people think the entire south side of chicago is a slum filled with gangs lmao! A lot of upper middle class areas over there and white people who live over there hate hearing that too.

It's people FROM Chicago who think the entire West Side is this way. I mean, it is for the most part, but the neighborhood I posted earlier in this thread, Galewood, is more than 50% black and it looks much nicer than the majority of the west side.

If you drive through there, you'd probably think you're in the burbs. It's a lot of city workers like fire and police that live there.
