Let’s get a thread going on this situation

For those not paying attention, he’s been not finishing games. He’s missed 11 games this season due to hamstring and ankle issues.

He’s also been sick and dealing with cramping.

Is he hurt? Is this an Uncle Dennis managing Kawhi Leonard in 2017-18 in San Antonio situation?

Do you still take this kid #1?

I would have concerns as a team that this kid has a love for the game at all. When the competitive juices get flowing at any level, I don't know how somone could do the things he's done this season. Compare that with what we've seen from Dybantsa and it's night and day. I know who I'd feel much more comfortable with on my team and who I believe would be motivated to max out their ability in the league.

In fairness, it should also be said that this is also a result of what we've seen in the NBA with load managing. The message from the NBA has been: don't push yourself, don't wear yourself out, all that matters is your next contract and getting as many as possible. This is coming from both teams and players.

Peterson is just the first high profile player to adopt this mentality in college and he won't be the last.

There are two potential issues with him:

1. He’s got some type of chronic cramping or muscle issue. I’ve known athletes with cramping issues; so much so they’ve been in tears during games. He casually walks to the bench and sits there all game like nothing is going on :yeshrug:

2. He has no competitiveness in his body and is willing to lie about being hurt to duck big games and other players (he’s missed every game against potential top players aside from BYU where he again he didn’t finish a game)

He’s a walking red flag either way. If he can’t play more than 18 minutes in a college game for 30 games, how can a team him to play 34 for a minimum of 65?

Is a team supposed to believe that after you give him tens of millions of dollars he’s going to flip a switch and be an iron man type of player?

I’m not even going to try to get in his mind to say if he doesn’t have the competitiveness and all that.

If his hamstring issues are real thats a screaming red flag for a guy that relies on his explosiveness at times…

If they aren’t real…..thats a screaming red flag for not having that dog in him.

He has question marks about his game anyway…How you have all that talent around you and have more turnovers than assist?

maybe he is banged up and is just out there trying to get his before tapping out

maybe he isn’t what ppl think he is

interesting fr
