Either you have a motor or you don't. You can't teach it.

Nah. This kid was already counting down the seconds until he was done for the night. Almost robotically

Man hell no. Red flags galore. He has no competitiveness in him. It's been engrained in him from the start; he doesn't like playing. He just happened to be good at basketball. He and his team are going to pull these stunts on the team that drafts him

And for people comparing him to Anthony Edwards: Ant missed a grand total of zero games at Georgia. I'm not tryna hear this
Parcells had a great saying about that. If a guy doesn't bite as a puppy, he won't ever bite.

This is the obvious play they should have went with imo.
Show your talent early and shut it down due to some minor "clean up" surgery that won't impact your draft stock (ie: the kyrie)
I don't know if he forefits his NIL $$$ if he goes that route. Probably not. That would be the smarter play, he's already proven he's a high lotto pick.

It’s his camp…me and Lucky Lefty can confirm that. Specifically his dad/agent..

It’s silly tho. Because Kyrie was drafted #1 despite a season ending injury. Also this is the type of thing where you wind up getting an injury anyway by trying so hard to avoid it. On some karmic, law of attraction type shyt.

Kyrie also returned from his injury and played in 3 games in the NCAA Tournament.

Ultimately Petersons actions are a reflection of the current landscape of the NBA :yeshrug: Like I want to be upset because I really wanna see him play, but what does the nba promote… the media has gaslit us into thinking that the regular season doesn’t matter, that it’s ok to load manage, hell, let’s just cut down on games, that winning isn’t everything as long as you got a bag. This isn’t the NBA that most people here grew up on which was coming off of the heels of MJ and then Kobe. We are seeing the effects of player empowerment. Should we really be mad at this kid for resting if he’s injured? Should he just call it now and get ready for the draft?

I mean some GM is gonna take him if not #1, definitely #2 or #3 but this ain't a good look. The NBA season is long, you eventually are going to play when you're not 100%. This kid is doing everything he can not to play and he's only 19

There are two potential issues with him:

1. He’s got some type of chronic cramping or muscle issue. I’ve known athletes with cramping issues; so much so they’ve been in tears during games. He casually walks to the bench and sits there all game like nothing is going on :yeshrug:

2. He has no competitiveness in his body and is willing to lie about being hurt to duck big games and other players (he’s missed every game against potential top players aside from BYU where he again he didn’t finish a game)

He’s a walking red flag either way. If he can’t play more than 18 minutes in a college game for 30 games, how can a team him to play 34 for a minimum of 65?

Is a team supposed to believe that after you give him tens of millions of dollars he’s going to flip a switch and be an iron man type of player?
I have a hard time believing it's a competitiveness thing just because of how hard he plays when he is out there but these new players are doing weird shyt like this nowadays.

This is the thing. He puts in enough minutes to have good tape for the scouts then checks himself out. How do you hit a 3 then tell the coach to pull you? If you're hurt how are you still scoring? You're not even grimacing or hobbling to show signs of tweaking an injury.

If he was legitimately dealing with an injury there wouldn't be all this secrecy. The coach would say he's on a minutes restriction or he'd sit him until he was near 100%.

It’s a tough situation cause I understand why his pops is cautious but I also understand why Coach Self is frustrated. It’s not as simple as “cut him off the team”. Adidas would never let us do that
