Drivetrains and chassis are completely different.

Mofos talking like they gonna be on the fast and the furious teams.

Dudes are literally gonna be using this to drive to work and go to popeyes :russ:

But then again a car is a mechinism to get from point A to Point B for me so the only things I really care about is MPG, Reliability, and tech to a degree and from a tech standpoint if you got a smart phone and bluetooth connectivity then the only thing you really gain is maybe some safety technology (when it comes to luxury vs non, but in this stage of the game non luxury cars are now getting high tech safety features).

I'm not trying to drop that kind of money down. I haven't driven in 8 years, having had my license suspended. Only now, I'm going to be needing something for transporting stuff I sell, so I'm looking for something nice and reasonably priced. Said I wouldn't take more than 10k out the bank for a car, it'd have to be a nice whip with less than 100k miles, and it must be bought outright. I've heard bad things about BMWs and Benzes, Acura lost its way from the 90s, Infinitis are ugly, and so on. Lexus seems to be the highest rated luxury car when it comes to bang for buck.

then you might as well lease a brand new luxury car short term or just buy a 'regular' car. if you can only afford the 10k you wont be going very far, because your going to need an additional 10k down the line for parts, maintenance etc and all that noise.

Lol exactly. If i got 10k im buying a 3k beater toyota or Im buying CPO which thats in the no older than 5 yrs old.

Droping 10k on a decade old whip means younare going to be at a stage where you will be the kne having to deal with all of the major maintenence around the corner. At least with a beater you have a cash reserve to fix the whip or buy another beater if it dies.

No such thing as a “nice” 10 yr old whip. You buy an old car for pure utility.

Some people actually enjoy driving, so those things do matter. :manny:

Don't need credit, since I can buy it with cash. I have a fair amount of money in the bank. But I'm frugal, as well, so I have limited my purchase to 10K and no more than than that. I want to spend no more than 10K on a luxury car with at least 100K miles of use remaining, and Lexus seems to be the best bet. Do you disagree?

The only way the bolded is true is if you can buy EVERYTHING in cash. I ask about the cash windfall because this is the second thread I’ve seen with an oddly similar premise. Being frugal and buying a decade old luxury car with high mileage don’t mix. As another poster said you may have to spend the purchase price of the car just to keep it on the road; not only that, but the ES pictured is newer than an 09, it’s gonna look much worse. I will agree however that if you’re looking to buy an older luxury car, it won’t get better than Lexus, as they are honestly the only reliable Japanese luxury brand.
All that said, if forced to pick between the two I’d go with the GS.

how doesn't it mix when he's making a smart choice as far luxury and reliability. there's nothing wrong with not wanting to buy a brand new car no matter how much money you have. lexus have the lowest maintenance costs among luxury and non luxury cars. lmao at spending the purchase price on repairs. not gonna happen by any stretch of the imagination with lexus. all i see in the future is regular maintenance as with any car. there will be no catastrophic engine or transmission or suspension failures.
