Like it or not, Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole are the Rakim and BDK/Nas and Jay-Z of this era

Kendrick is on his way and if he delivers another real good project will be solidified. I don't think he's quite a shoe in for that next jump. He needs more quality albums under his belt.

J-Cole just isn't. People want to make the next Nas / Jay-z or Tupac / Biggie so they just pick a secondary guy to Kendrick. J Cole isn't that guy. Kendrick sure looks to be well on his way but Cole just isn't. He doesn't have that first album that is one people go nuts for en masse. His music doesn't resonate that heavy all over the country. I sometimes question where people are from who think he's some kind of big force all over.

Like i said if youre hooked on Cacdrick , make a new thread and poll asking If GKMC is better than the 3 albums combined
Lets get it poppin

That's just my opinion. Doesn't mean it's fact. GKMC is a classic in the same way that Illmatic is a classic. Not as good. But it's a true origin story that showcases life in Compton. The same way that illmatic was an origin story about growing up in NY in 90s.

I don't need a cosign from nikkas on a forum to stick to my opinion. :heh:

No. :laff:@Wale being at his best making songs for women, nikka :what:.

Pick any song J. Cole and Wale have both been on a song together and 90% of the time Wale out raps him or draws with him. Wale's just annoying and starts doing that haiku shyt so people don't take him seriously. Anyway, long story short--all these new guys rap at about the same level (as another poster said) and their differences are down to marketing, perception and what they do with their talent. I know everyone has their own opinion, but when you're trying to objectively evaluate artists you have to see beyond yourself and take a holistic view of it all. Personally, I no longer care about all this trying to create tiers and I just judge off whether the music is good or not. I like most of these new guys, but don't think they're as good as the aforementioned. Doesn't matter to me though.

He is. The only time Whale is worth a damn is when he's rapping about bytches with catchy singing on the hook like Bad, Sabotage, and Lotus Flower Bomb. That and guest features. His album tracks mostly suck and are full of awful punchlines, wack poetry, annoying boasts, and general pretentious bytchassness.

I guess it’s in God’s hands
I make the type of pieces that make Jesus say God damn
That's for your non-believers

I’m the truth only time will teach ya
And fukk the haters probably never love they mommas neither
Old bitter-ass sit around in middle class homes
With computers on hating on the newest song
While you was browsing I was taking out them student loans
Trying to do this shyt better than the nikkas we grew up on
Name a fukking song I ain't threw up on
Talk is cheap, its like y'all grew up in a Jewish home!
Pardon the stereotype

But y'all giving me mixed feelings like I married a white woman

Yeah, I stunt, but I’m a li’l more realer
When it come from the heart, don’t it feel mo’ iller?

Watch my flow go bananas, I’m a li’l gorilla
So pardon me, man, y’all gon’ have to pardon me
They say I rep that ‘Ville too much, but that shyt just a part of me
It’s flowin’ out through my arteries, who hard as me?You JV, I’m varsity
No field trip, ain’t hard to see, this real shyt, you R&B
Seen a movie wit’ yo’ bytch in it, and listen it, was starrin’ me
(Woo!) That boy Simba crazy
Hotter than Ike Turner temper, you December, maybe
And though you wish me well, I know deep down you wish I’d fail
It’s Judgment Day, I’m here to give you p*ssy nikkas hell
And some food for thought, I can serve a plate
With dessert to take, with dessert to take
Yeah, I heard the hate, but the wait is fukkin’ over
It’s like I’m fukkin’ Oprah, well worth the wait
Maybe over your head,I’m ahead of my time
nikkas scared of my future, I know they dreadin’ my prime
Cause I only made classics, now what that take? Timing
Cole under pressure, what that make? Diamonds

He's obviously better on mixtapes but rapping about women is not where he's at his best. I don't even like his albums because I think they're poorly constructed and all over the place but you sound like you personally don't like him. J. Cole is no less arrogant than Wale and if anything his "I won't to boast but I want to still seem humble shyt" is annoying as fukk. Real people can decipher, relax. It's the type of shyt that Nas never did or had to do. FYI, the fact that you actually like J. Cole's production speaks volumes to your ear for music. J. Cole sounded perfectly finding rapping over other people's beats on his mixtapes. The problem with Cole is that he just comes off as a poor man's Kanye on the boards. You can't seriously tell me that somehow J. Cole would sound off if he was given the soulful beats that went to Drake and Kendrick.

J. Cole should be rapping over stuff like Too Much, Lord Knows, Sing About Me, bytch Don't Kill My Vibe, Look What You've Done, Money Trees, Furthest Thing, etc. It's why his albums can only be played when you're in a certain mood. That shyt is the same reason Nas lost my and @Broletariat's generation after he brought us all in when we were in 7th grade with Stillmatic. I was stanning and listening to him despite the fact that I thought 60% of those beats were weak. Don't even get me started on Cole World's inconsistent ass production. I knew he had yes man around him when the dude in the studio co-signed that wack ass beat he tried to send to Jay.
