never understood the argument that Wayne isn't lyrical or that his songs have no substance, sure most of his songs recently haven't really touched on anything specific but dude has alot of songs with substance. not gonna list them all but

Georgia Bush
Tie My Hands
Shoot Me Down
Receipt
Miss My Dawgs
Fresh's Blessings
World of Fantasy
I Feel Like Dying
What He Does
La La La
Lets Talk
Shooter
Get Over
Dr. Carter

just examples..

You're pulling bullshyt out of the air.

Who says a song has to be played 20 years from now to be impactful and great.

Also how many rapper can have one of the most anticipated albums of all time and actually deliver on a lead single that is played everywhere and reaches all type of folk.

That type of talent can't be ignored.

Because thats what makes music great, because it's timeless
the main reason why we talk about albums such as southernplayalisticadillacmuzik, Illmatic, Ready To Die
albums that are 20 + years old.

And to be honest any of Wayne's Carter albums aren't even better than

Food and Liquor
Be
Fishcale
Below The Havens
The Salvation
Escape Route
The B.Coming
Elmatic
ect.

Wayne's prime to me were the C3 sessions.

What do you mean by early? Hot Boyz/Pre-Carter era Wayne wasn't good at all

Most people that say ''Early Wayne music'' are the people that jumped on his bandwagon
during the carter days....coincidentally those are the same people that think The Carter is his debut album. LOL

Not saying he's personally mine, but let's break it down

Biggest rapper in the world at one point? Check
Quality/Great material for at least 5 years? Check
Held up an entire record label by himself for years? Check
Lyrically inclined? Check
Influential? Double Check
Best rapper ever from his city? Check

You can make a legit case for Wayne.

Outside of influence, there's another rapper who fits this description. Everybody co-signing this would look like hypocrites though for saying he doesn't.

Objectively, though (no order):

Nas
Pac
Rakim
Biggie
LL Cool J
Ice Cube
Scarface
KRS-One
Jay Z
Kane

Which of these artists would you really replace with Wayne?

Definitely in my personal 10, around 5. It feels weird to have Wayne top 5 but realistically, Ive been listening to this nikka since 98. His growth started with Lights Out and he got better for like 7-8 years. Still shows glimpses in his flabby era...If you put his run up against most of these goats,he laps alot of them off sheer amount of consistent piff. Some of these top 10 nikkas getting in there off one lp and a few good years.
