To be fair that was the WOAT conference ever in the nba. Even the 80’s West minus the lakers wasn’t that bad back then. Basically they won by default. As soon as Wade, LeBron, and Shaq came around east things got better.

Late 90s early 00s was trash best era is 89-94 up until MJ retired
No.

80s were with HOF lineups so good some came off the bench. Yall sweat the 90s too much. Expansion gave a lot of bums a job

They only got good in 2002-03. The next season was still a big shocker when they won. The rest of their run was when there were other good teams in the east as well as a few great players
I'm just pointing out that they were an integral part of the East getting good again.

Between Detroit coming up, Wade and LeBron entering the East, and then the Boston trio forming in 2008 and the Bulls and Pacers forming defensive forces in 2011 and 2012, the top of the East was just as good as the top of the West from 2004 to 2013. They won 5 of the 10 titles during that time and easily could have won in 2005, 2009 (if Garnett doesn't get hurt or the Cavs get past the Magic), 2010, and 2011 too. The only year the West outclassed the East during that decade was 2007.

Oh yeah from 2004-05 through 2012-13 the east was very good.

Detroit
Speaking of Detroit, before the 2004 title, the starting line-up in 2002-03 that won 50 games was:

C - Ben Wallace
PF - Cliff Robinson
SF - Michael Curry
SG - Jerry Stackhouse
PG - Chucky Atkins

- Somebody already beat me to mentioning the early 90s Blazers.

- those Reggie Miller prime-Indiana teams, especially after Chuck Person left.
You had a whole team of guys (except Reggie) who seemed like they didn't feel like shooting...and when they did, they didn't wanna shoot any closer than 15ft out. It was perplexing. But they used to win...
