Glad it's doing well.

Banks did his thing but it's probably one of his more forgettable projects in terms of production imo. Quite a few beats just seem bland and paint by numbersish.

I’ll just say nobody was saying banks beats were bland until he started working with cartune.

Never heard these complaints on the previous mixtapes.

Iight. After multiple listens I have the first COTI over this slightly.

Banks is rapping his ass off on this shyt tho. Dope album.

Banks has ALOT of material to do a VS with anybody. His worst project is Rotten Apple. That album simply isnt good. Every other drop whether album or Mixtape is fire.
The highs of rotten apple are really good tho like stranger, get clapped, cake etc. Overhated album that’s not even bad.

Edit: I think it’s a good album real talk

He did it again

He hypes us with a new album

It starts

A few songs in you realize every beat is some synth pads and weak/clunky mixed drums.

I’m sure he still got some punches, but sonically wow this is boring. It makes the whole album sound like 1 song.

Really disappointing

:dahell:

EDIT: and this coming from a big Lloyd Banks fan from the mixtapes, G-Unit albums, first independent stuff. Beats matter in Hip-Hop. Maybe they blast in the studio surrounded by yes men, but bumping this in the car, it’s a no.

Banks or Doe Pesci said it years ago. The hard drive with most of the songs got fukked up and Banks had to rerecord them. Not sure if he did but that's why it took so long and ended up not coming out

He had a couple other snippets too there was a big CC3 thread on here

Yeah me neither I’m curious to hear the story on that. Far as I remember the closest they came to putting it out was when Banks gave that salty ass speech about the pre-orders needing to look right.

After sitting with this album I think it’s a solid 4 mics. Someone earlier was spot on when they said the first COTI had higher highs but this one is more consistent although I will say I like socialize as much as any song on the first COTI.

The first half of the first COTI was borderline classic to me. That’s the kind of rap music I fukk with. Banks was in his bag and even though I’ve been meh on the beats on COTI2, Cartune laced him with sidewalks and empathy which were both piff and perfect fits for Banks imo. Crown was also piff. I think the first one had slightly better beats on the whole but the second half of the album got a bit repetitive to me. Banks kind of settled into low energy slower delivery which I fukk with, but doing it track after track made it kind of a slog at times.

That’s the area where I like COTI 2 more. Tracks like Fell In Love and Socialize put some energy back in his delivery and are still razor sharp flow wise and lyrically. Also Don’t Switch Up and Traffic reminded me of Banks during the Return of the PLK era up until V5. He murdered both those tracks and Jesus Christ Vado and East both got cooked. The second verse on Don’t Switch Up was so piff smh.

I still stand by the biggest let down bring some if the beats. As I said above that Cartune has proven he can make dope beats so same of the blame may go on Banks for his beat selection but songs like Murda One and Dead Roses are fukking flawless lyrically and it’s a crime they’re not over better production. A Lloyd Banks and Jadakiss collab should be on a way better beat then what we got with Power Steering I mean come on lol. I never really had any complaints with his beat selection in the past and he’s never really dropped a lot of bread on known producers like that so hopefully this is a one album issue. He’s doing himself a disservice though by not getting some shyt from Alchemist and Havoc etc. These are producers that fukk with Banks but for whatever reasons he doesn’t work with.

But yeah…4 mic album imo. I’m happy with it, great work out music.

I want another Banks joint mostly produced by Doe Pesci that was his best in house producer

I wonder what’s the story on him being absent on COTI and returning for 1 joint on COTI2. Doe and the jerm are the best 2 to do Banks beats at the low price he clearly goes for. They’re also the ones that were doing those trap beats for the scrapper Gangsta Grillz so they clearly can get diverse wit it
