nikka this is the internet so obviously nikkas is gonna voice their opinion on shyt matter how small it seems too you . Stop being oblivious to the fact that this nikka common recently basically said black people are the blame for racism and letting these cats in hollywood dictate his every move . No one said they hated every white person they encounter but obviously there's a certain group of white people that's trying to keep us stagnated , and you know damn well that's a fact , but nikkas like you are satisfied at the position our race as a whole is in because you living lovely , I could be making a mill a year and still wouldn't be satisfied because nikkas is getting clapped up by pigs with no repercussions . That's goes for all you bytch ass nikkas that wanna throw a tantrum because head is pointing out the obvious , it's like ya nikkas is allergic to the truth . Name all the black people in mainstream and pick out how many of them is a good influence to the youth . Alot of them have the ability to advocate and say shyt but their scared massa gonna cut off all connection to their cash flow . We barely own shyt in America it's a fukking shame its like the equivalent to being afraid to leave momma nest on some shyt , I'm 19 but I'm trying to formulate ideas with other peers of mines to create bussiness to reduce the current unemployment percentage were facing as of right now , of course I know it isn't going to happen overnight , but the first thing that would come out your mouth and alot of bytch ass nikkas on here would be "where your business" "I don't see no progress" . I can't stand nikkas like ya man . Even the small shyt that seems minor to you hurts certain nikkas because people perceive black people in the mainstream media as a joke and weak because despite all the shyt thats currently going on they out here smiling and shyt not even acknowledging nada. You won't hesitate to criticize your own people , but if a white person was in your presence saying some off the wall shyt you'd probably freeze up . SUCK MY dikk YOU PARASITE .

Actually... nah.

He didn't say no shyt like Black people are the blame for racism... you're puttin' words in his mouth. And this is exactly WTF I'm talkin' about. You're a kid who thinks he knows the world and probably ain't seen shyt yet. Especially if somethin' like Common parodying Lionel Richie is enough to inspire the wack ass rant posts you've dropped in this thread.... you got a whole lot more shyt ahead of you that's really gonna throw you for a loop. As of now tho? You Don't Know shyt, you just think you do. I criticize white people the same way I criticize you fake revolutionary nikkas.

He said we should extend our hand as if we initiated shyt so he might as well have said that and you don't even know me money to be saying I haven't seen or know shyt I'm not one those kids that got spoiled or received shyt on a silver platter . I might be 19 , but I've basically been on my own since I was 13 & I did 2 and a half when I was 15 and in that time I used it to educated myself and as crazy as it sounds as it sounds I needed that time desperately because I was in those streets wildin and I would have got executed by my own people or by hands of the police . Age is nothing but two digits at the end of the day its all about experience and despite you being older than me I guarantee I have more knowledge in my left thumb than you do in ya dense ass head . You're trying to give nikkas the illusion that Common dancing made my mind switch overnight and started chattin when you know damn well it was his actions leading up to this . As for my statements nothing I said was a lie , I'm not even going to repeat myself because for nikkas who seeing this could go back and see what I said . Call me a fake revolutionist all you please because I never claimed to be Malcolm X reincarnated , I'm just saying whats true and nikkas is afraid to admit and come to terms with .

Growing up with and within hip hop has helped me understand so much about historical rewriting and re-framing of history, politics, etc. because now I see clearly that completely erroneous (or sometimes not simply lacking context and insight but truly maliciously incorrect propaganda) mainstream takes on culture eventually win out, no matter what. Black suburbanites, Immigrants and CACs have truly succeeded in erasing the widespread criticism of The Score as some hip hop ABBA shyt. Some people truly champion Wyclef as a legend. People "miss" the Ja Rule era. Hammer is a black musical legend. Because the American capitalist ethos is so deeply embedded in all subcultures at this point, any and all transgressions against principle and integrity can be rationalized as "evolving." In fact, dude said "hey it's not like he was singing The Beatles - he was doing Lionel Richie and Hammer." That sentence is phenomenal in how culturally tone deaf it is. Lionel Richie wasn't some symbol of black excellence after he left The Commodores - he made schmaltzy pop music. Dancing On The Ceiling and All Night Long weren't black cookout joints, my aunts and uncles weren't jamming to that shyt at the crib. People are culturally illiterate, and aggressive in their wrongness. It's as fascinating as it is terrifying.

The problem with discussing this is The Coli has become so dichotomous on all topics: everything in this thread seems to hinge on whether you're a c00n or a faux-militant. Neither is really relevant in this case. I don't see this ruining racial progress. But it is funky as fukk. Imagine Bruce Springsteen performing Born In The USA at the Republican National Convention. Or imagine the chef at one of our country's top restaurants partnering with McDonald's to make a limited time only sandwich. Some compromises will really seem absurd and disheartening to people who have some sort of cultural literacy. If Marcus Samuelsson made a Scandinavian themed Filet-O-Fish only an uninformed, obstinate, or foolish person would say "what's the big deal here? nikkas can't make fish sandwiches without you fake food nazis hating?" shyt is hilarious.

YOU don't define black music or hip hop. Your the one trying to rewrite history.. If you truly grew up in hip hop then you would be able to recognize the roots and the foundation its built on. I grew up in the inner city. shyt was party and dance music from the very beginning. Your ignorant and narrow-minded perception of what is black culture and black music is obviously limited by your lack of exposure to anything beyond your block during your upbringing. You celebrate your ignorance and grandstand on it. I heard Lionel Richie and commodores right next to al green and el debarge at cook outs. Just cause your uncles were not jamming it doesn't mean other blacks weren't. You say Lionel Richie made pop music as if that's supposed to be an insult or something. Like black people cant do pop music. Micheal Jackson was the king of pop.. I guess according to you he cant be a black cultural icon either. The black experience is NOT monolithic. We are a diverse people. Always have been although white supremacist and clowns like you will try to paint us with one brush. A black person from New Orleans will have had a much different black cultural and musical experience than someone who grew up in new york.

It's 2015 and this clip of common and john legend is whats got you upset about hip hop? Are you serious? This is what I'm failing to understand. Your actually talking about black artist compromising by performing in front of white crowds in 2015 as if its new. As if Public Enemy and Dead prez concerts are not 90% white. Dudes out here wearing dresses, rapping about killing other blacks, and encouraging white concert goers to sing along and say n!gga and this is the video that got you worked up? Newsflash.. There is not 1 single black mainstream entertainer who has not had to compromise on some level at some point. I'd love to hear who you think is keeping it real.. I challenge you to name some mainstream black artists that you feel are black enough and haven't compromised... I'll wait...

No he isn't. Hammer made garbage music and was a disposable pop act. Calling Hammer a hip-hop legend is like calling Limp Bizkit rock legends.

Hammer was ahead of his time. Everything he was criticized for in the 90s is what your favorite rapper strives to do today. Having commercials, cross over hits, selling out arenas, elaborate shows, having endorsements, tv shows etc.. hammer laid the blueprint.

And If we are going by 90s standards jcoles last album with his struggle singing is more pop than anything hammer ever put out. Every single "rapper" is pop these days. 50, jay, kendrick, kanye And the all autotune rap singers... Future out here doing autotune love ballads.. all this would have been criticized in the 90s as sell out shyt.
