It seems the female contingent in this thread is employing expert level selective reading skill :jbhmm:

No sane person in this thread has applauded Dre's history of abuse against women. In fact, many have decried this history and called him out :sas1:

The issue is how grossly inaccurate the movie was in terms of historically verifiable events :martin:

The fact that it seems chronology and fact were not very important in telling "her story" :pachaha:

And when chronology and fact are not very important when telling a story, that is a form of gray propaganda :skip:

Look, Dre is 1000 PERCENT WRONG for his abuse of Michele'e. No doubt about that. No person deserves to be manhandled the way this woman allegedly was. If all the things you mention are true, then she endured torturous conditions.

But that does nothing to take away the fact that the movie's narrative was not about telling the story of Michele'e and her life. It was a hit piece on Dre. That's it, that's all. And not even a good one.

And regarding Suge, why is that none of the female contingent are decrying her leaving one abuser to go to another? :comeon:

And why is none of the female contingent decrying her dating/having a child by one man and then doing the same with his associate/business partner? :what:

Peace

1. I suggest you go back through this thread and read the number of posts denying that Dre did anything wrong, the posts downplaying the abuse, and the ones saying Michel'le deserved it for sleeping around.

2. If the factual inaccuracies on Surviving Compton bothered you, than you better be bothered by the factual inaccuracies in Straight Outta Compton. If Dre had the right to erase Michel'le's existence in SOC, then Lifetime/Michel'le had a right to put in members of Deathrow/NWA where they may not have been. The crux of her story is true and corroborated by many people, whereas people dispute major parts of SOC.

3. Very few biopics cover a subjects life from birth to death, usually they focus on a major aspect of their life. Just as SOC focused on a set number of years of the NWA lives, Michel'le's movie focused on her NWA-Deathrow years. There's nothing wrong with that. It's laughable to describe his as a hit piece on Dre when Michel'le is telling the truth, a truth that Dre himself has corroborated! Didn't he plead guilty to assualting Dee Barnes? Didn't he talk about it in multiple songs? Didn't he give a raggedy public apology to the "women he hurt" when SOC came out? Didn't he also admit to abusing women in that apology. It's not a hit piece when it's your own words and actions.

4. As I said before, Michel'le got with Dre when she was 15 and was in an abusive relationship for 9 years. She had been raised to accept violence from a man. This girl had no idea of what a healthy relationship was. Add to that, Suge presented himself as an angel to her. He gave her money and food when Dre ran off on tour and left her with nothing. He got her into rehab and kept her financially afloat when she had nothing. Of course she wouldb see him in a good light. As to loyalty, why should she give him something he never gave her? Was he loyal when he beat her ass? Was he loyal when he cheated on her non-stop? Was he loyal when he brought women to their house? She owes that man nothing and he owes her the world.

But why not tell it accurately? The blatant inaccuracies of the story are what have people looking at her sideways :francis:

When you purposely leave out fact and chronology when it's verifiable to prove otherwise, people will question motives:yeshrug:

What non-documentary movie has been 100% about the facts and included all information? Hence why most have a disclosure based on a true story.

Secondly, it's a lifetime movie. This ain't the first lifetime biopic we've seen. Their demographic is women. So take most stuff with a grain of salt and understand the purpose of the movie is entertainment.

I haven't seen her movie yet, but Michel'le should've had a part in SOC. She been with Dre like 9 years had his child and Suge another 7 or so.

She was an artist on their labels she sung on a few other artists albums. She was the Eve, Lil Kim, Ashanti to Ruff Ryders, Junior Mafia, Murder Inc.

She wasn't just some random groupie. And she doesn't try to bad mouth her exes IMO, she just tells her truth and most of the time laughs off how naive she was then. When you do bad things, you can't be mad when you end up sounding like a villain from another's perspective. Actions have consequences, and they affect other people.

Imma watch the movie today or tomorrow.

Wait, Dre was beating on Pam too? :dahell:
No, she spoke about Michel'le's abuse. They were friends. I didn't like how she was sugar coating her words tho. Especially from someone as outspoken as she is, but it is reminiscent of people who have normalized and are desensitized to abuse.

Lets call it what it is.

But Im not shocked a lot of men think if a women has sex a certain number of men she can't be mistreated no matter how bad, its her fault if she gets raped, beaten, ask a man to pay child support, file charges against a man. No matter what Michel'le accomplishes in her life dumb ass people will be like she fukked Dre and Suge, she's a hoe. But if Dre does anything great most people won't bring up him beating up women. And thats is what pisses me off about the double standard.
Look women have their own double standards they can get away with

Lets look at the reverse. Chris Brown and Rihanna pretty sure people still demonize Chris for This

1. Noted, but those do not represent the overall opinion of Dre in this thread. Most decry his actions. Personally, I find Dre's behavior deplorable. But that doesn't mean that I will overlook the obvious hit job that "Surviving Compton" is.

2. How exactly does acknowledging Michele'e as Dre's girlfriend add to the narrative of NWA as a group? The film was meant to depict the group's dynamic amongst the members themselves and Jerry Heller. More to the point, the film was about Dre, Cube and Easy within the NWA construct.

How does Michele'e add to that storyline?

3. We're not doing the "Dee Barnes" story. We're talking about Michele'e and "Surviving Compton."

Yes, the movie focused on those years. But there are blatant inaccuracies depicted in the film as fact. That's the issue that people are having with it. I'll keep saying it....when a piece of media is without proper fact and chronology, it is a form of propaganda.

4. Regardless of her background, I find it troubling that there are some who skip over how disgraceful it is for someone, male or female, to run to the arms of an ex's associate/business partner. Something tells me that if that were a man, there would be no excuse large enough to remedy a union between that man and his ex's associate/business partner.

Peace

Well, when a movie or piece of art is aimed at making a particular person look like a monster under the guise of being based on true events, that's called a hit job. And that's what "Surviving Compton" was. I don't necessarily have a problem with it being a hit job on Dre. I have an issue with people acting like it's not.

So, basically expect factual inaccuracies and chronological impossibilities if a movie is on Lifetime? Got it. I'm glad a female confirmed that publicly.

What would having her make a cameo or having a small role added to SOC? Serious question. Because the movie barely highlighted NWA members like MC Ren and DJ Yella. The movie was made to highlight a small space in time for Dre, Cube, Easy and Heller within the construct of NWA.

Peace

I said fukk Dre you non reading son of a bytch. Everything I said was about strategy and you've illustrated that you're too gotdamn stupid to comprehend. I clearly said that you don't have to condone what Dre did to not condone what she's done. It's not about suffering in silence, it's about not allowing yourself to exploited by those who are oppressing you. Whites are exploiting this chic, they don't give a fukk about her. She could've told her story without allowing whites to exploit her.

I don't even blame your racist white supremacy protecting ass but I do blame the black women who constantly fall for the simple ass divide and conquer tactics that people like employ. Dumb bytches.
:camby:white supremacy ain't got nothing to do with this..

A low budget c level movie with no name actors on lifetime, telling stories about Dre we knew already is a white supremacist hit job:russ::mjlol:

So you would consider a biopic on Hitler a "hit" piece? There is nothing wrong with a "hit" piece if its factual and objective....

White politicians got yall thinking that's a bad term and that you should dismiss the content if something is titled a hit piece...
