No he wasn't. How was Mystikal bigger than DMX before "Ruff Ryders Anthem"?

For starters, he didn't really have a huge buzz behind him until Ghetto D dropped and he was all over it. Then Unpredictable dropped and it went platinum. In '98, he had a slew of features on No Limit albums, but nothing on par with the features X had. None of Mystikal's singles were on par with the singles X had and "Ruff Ryders Anthem" was the worst performing of all X's albums.

Both X and Mystikal dropped albums in late '98 and you don't even have to guess which was bigger.
Well, unpredictable which dropped in 97 went platinum with no commercial singles, and ghetto fabulous went platinum as well...."bigger" is a feeling and mystikal sold OTHER no limit albums because HIS name was on it...im bout it, and the other millerbros sold more records because FEATURING MYSTIKAL. Mystikal brought buzz TO no limit, because HERE I GO was already major as fukk before he signed.

He was more popular before rr anthem, i dont kniw how or why youre arguing that.

Btw, Ruff ryders anthem being a "worst performing single" is incredibly misleading because just BOUGHT THE ALBUM when they heard the song

I myself was a fan before rr anthem but he was not above the people we're arguing about. Why was mystikal your favorite rapper back then?

I became a Mystikal fan after hearing "Ghetto Child". After hearing that song and "Born 2 Be A Soldier", I copped Unpredictable and that was that.

Make you say uhh was hotter than any dmx feature prior to rr anthem coming out. Plus he had a platinum album and Features on the hottest street label in the game. I guess money power respect and 24 hours to live means more to you. Agree to disagree.
And why are we bringing up late 98' stats in a Convo about early 98'?

X didn't have smashes like that either and his sales came from buzz and anticipation. He was WAY bigger than Mystikal in '98.

Feelings don't equate to facts. There is no evidence that you can provide that proves Mystikal was way bigger than X before RR Anthem dropped.

X had copies of his debut flying off the shelves before RR Anthem. Mind you X is a guy that had people out here trying to compare him to Pac.

It doesn't matter which means more to me. That really doesn't make much sense if Mystikal was my favorite rapper at the time. As hard as Mystikal went on "Make Em Say Uhh", he didn't have the buzz and anticipation of X.

Actually "hotter" is purely feeling. Its how someone is bubbling in the culture. You are really blending post rr anthem with pre rr anthem. They came out at the exact same time; rr anthem SOLD the albums...but before that dmx was hot but mystikal WAS ALREADY goin platinum.

NY all day..Da Stead & BK..
This rr bad boy argument is ridiculous

Lox was ALWAYS with the CREW ruff ryders
They signed with the LABEL bad boy
Ruff ryders started a record label
Lox later signed to that record label

How hard is that to understand
It’s not hard to understand. These nikkas either have terrible comprehension or being purposely disingenuous. This isn’t even an argument. The Lox will tell u this shyt out of their own mouths.

Dmx was nothing yet so who cares. #badboys #justincombsPUBLISHING
#SHINYsuits
Keep pretending like they weren't full on bad boys
Yes. They were the Bad Boy LABEL. But was Ruff Ryders Crew. They HATED that shiny suit shyt which is why they fought to come home to Ruff Ryders when the label got off the ground. fukk other reason would they go to Ruff Ryders being that they were already successful on Bad Boy? They wanted to come HOME nikka. They didn’t like that shiny suit shyt Diddy was making them do.

Dmx sold 250K his first week
It was good, very good but it was only the tenth highest first week sales of that year (hiphop). RR anthem helped him alot. If you're from NY,i understand why you feel that way. But prior to RR anthem,Dmx was just a very good prospect,he wasn't thee guy

Flesh of My Flesh didn't age that well either. Honestly his first album is the one that has aged the best and the easiest one to listen to now. Flesh of My Flesh was a good album at the time, but despite CLASSICS like Slippin, Blackout, Ready to Meet Him, and a couple of others, the production on that album just aged really badly. Some people may disagree but that late 90's early 00's Swizz Beatz sound is just not a style I can listen to easily.

We Are The Streets is the same way. fukk You is the Swizz Beatz joint on there I think everyone likes the most.

I'm aware,BUT THEY DID IT REGARDLESS. It's not like they were over there doing their own thing. And if DMX didnt blow up,they would have stayed put and kept on their suits until diddy said it was ok to remove them. DMX made it HIS WAY,raw. They had to act jiggy to get on and dmx made the pups feel comfortable so they started to WILD OUT and repped. Until X blew up,they kept their chain tucked and kept their set a secret, even changed their fukking name from the WARLOX,stop acting like them nikkas was repping that RR. Them boys were neutered pups till the Dog showed them how to do it big while being raw. Stop trying to rewrite history.

Dame Grease provided DMX with his best ever work.

Honestly DMX should've stuck with Grease and Irv Gotti for production. They fit his style perfectly.
Yes!

If he branched out, during the era he was hot in, I would've liked to hear him over Havoc and Alchemist. In my mind those would be dope sounds but who knows. Maybe a Preem beat at some point.
