What I took from this thread that’s wrong as fukk.

1.Swizz Beatz made DMX. Even tho nobody would know who Swizz is without DMX

2.DMX wasn’t poppin before Ruff Ryders anthem. Even tho he had a hit single and did a million hot features months leading up to it.


3.The Lox and Mase weren’t Ruff Ryders before Bad Boy even tho Dame Grease, PK and an unknown Swizz are on they first album with Swizz producing one of the best solo Jadakiss songs in his career on that same album. Which are the same producers who produced the whole DMX first album.

4.Dame Grease can’t make hits. Even tho he produced “If You Think I’m Jiggy”, “We’ll Always Love Big Poppa” and “Get At Me Dog” all hit records that released before IDAHIH dropped.

On flesh of my flesh swizz had some shyt for example like keep your shyt the hardest and omen but as a whole nothing touches the first masterpiece tho fukk record sales.

show me another rapper who continued to put out timeless-esque music at that point of their careers after such a high peak.

don't give me any mid-card drifters that never dropped any consensus classic LPs and/or were never main eventers.

the only example we have is jay-z from '96-04, but he had to shark & play politics to accomplish that.


"X gonna give it to ya" was bigger than all of those.

First album dropped when he was 27 and he dropped 3 albums in 2 years. He was kinda a late starter in the game and had a 2 year supernova run and then things cooled off

i always felt like record sales dont define a album, if its classic and it sold alot it def adds to it for example doggystyle but thats a classic. and then there was x isnt tho it sold alot cuz of singles/x was on fire but it aint touching the first one. ialways take quality over what the shyt sold. u could sell alot of copies just because of your single and that doesnt define a album to real hip hop fans.
