Said it before here, some fathers ain’t shyt and pathological personalities that hurt a child’s and family’s development. Don’t know about OPs pops, but it’s hard to be “thankful” for having that type of person wrecking havoc throughout your life.

EDIT hold your head OP

We had the opposite problem OP. My dad was the greatest and we were trash. Me and my brothers put him through hell running around these streets yet he never wavered and always showed us love no matter what dumb shyt we did :wow:

I understand OP, remind me of my uncle who pushed my cousins to the breaking point but it was his way of showing love. Some men just don't know how to express emotions well. You should talk to the old man about it.

nikkas in this thread don't have a complete concept of what a father is supposed to be, so ignore their negativity.

Its clear your father wanted *something* for you, even if that was largely success that he never had.

At the same time, him being an a$$hole wasn't necessary, you can push someone to be great without being an a$$hole to them, especially your own child.
Now that you know, you can do better for your children. Be authoritative, without being a bully.

Plenty of well adjusted people who had no fathers or mothers in their life out there. On the other hand having a trash parent (or parents) often results in people walking around with life long trauma
Jerry West is one of the most accomplished people in the history of the NBA, let alone..sports

To this day he still gets depressed because his ol' man ran down on him when he was growing up.

Only bad thing I see here is him embarrassing you at school and that’s lightweight lmao!

My father was there but was also abusive to my mom up until I got grown, and I can say I love him for all the things he did for us, he passed away and I couldn’t tell him that though. Tighten up Breh, everybody has flaws, it’s all about how he raised you and outside looking in, seems like he was tryna prepare you for this cold world :yeshrug:

Floyd Mayweather was well into his 30s and still throwing tantrums about shyt his father did when he was a kid. He has all the materialistic desires one could want

Eminem was fukked up in the head for years about shyt he went through as a kid

Austin Rivers is a 20 something year old multimillionaire professional athlete with a duke education yet still bothered by his lack of relationship with his father

I’ve personally met dudes in their 60s and 70s still angry about shyt that happened when they were a child

this Stockholm Syndrome ass shyt is toxic. Abusive or dikkhead behavior cannot be excused as “everyone has flaws!”. That’s bird brain shyt. Using that logic we can say the same thing about law enforcement, trump or anybody exuding dikkhead behavior in general.

“Trump locking those kids in cages is just his way of trying to prepare them for the cold world of Mexico, everyone has flaws :troll:

I mean most of the time he was a pretty cool guy, but other times he could be the world's biggest a$$hole. Growing up it seemed like I could never do anything right in his eyes. Not once in my life then he ever tell me that he was proud of me, and he would also compare me to my older brother and say things such as " it's good you got a 3.0 on your report card but your brother got a 4.0 why can't you do that, I know you can but your just lazy and don't apply yourself.

There were also times where he would embarrass me in front of my friends and classmates. For example one time during my freshman year of high school, he was picking me up from football practice, I was talking to this girl and he yelled out from his car "boy get your ass in this damn car don't no body got time to wait on you". When I got in the car I asked him why he had to embarrass me and he replied " you embarrass yourself."

Speaking of Football there were times where I almost quit playing because of my Dad pushing me so hard. I remember he would wake me up at 6 in the morning on some weekends and we would go to the park and he would say things to me while me were practicing such as " Stop being a p*ssy and hit harder them little white girls on the cheerleading squad hit harder then you" or if you dont stop playing like a fakkit your going to do laps until you drop. I swear to God there were times when my Dad and I almost Boxed. He played football in college and even was a on The Kansas City Chiefs practice squad during the 1988-1989 NFL Season so I feel like he was trying to live his life through me.

I played Football in college but the school I went to was not good enough in his eyes because it was a D2 school and not Division 1. I me didn't say that to me out loud but but could always tell he didn't like the fact I played D2 Football and not D1. Another thing my Grandpa as the same way to my Dad and his brothers growing up so I knew why he was the way he was but that didn't make it right. But at the same time he taught me how to stand up for myself and not take shyt from anyone.
Sounds like a misguided tough love approach. That shyt is harmful but for some reason, people like to glorify it.

Honestly you sound soft ass fukk. You’re daddy was there for and pushed you to be the best you could .

Ok you got embarrassed in high school and?? I’m pretty sure no one in high school cares or remember that shyt.

You’re father isn’t supposed to be ur friend , at least not when ur young. He didn’t dip out on , you had a roof over ur head , food on the table.

As an adult you need to understand ur parents are not perfect, they regular people with flaws just like everyone else . And he did the best he could. Stop whining and luv ur daddy

Nah, my father and I got into it a lot, really fought over that and he stopped abusing my Mom completely by the time I was like 14. I’m not saying that is forgiven, I can never forgive that and he knew, but I still love him, not cause he birthed me, but because of what he did for us.
