Why haven't they collaborated to own their own industry :jbhmm:

The entire enchilada from production to distribution?

But it's easier to get a check, then make a video and b*tch and moan:francis:

Business is different from art... Dealing with investors/radio partners/ TV placements/hiring is different from crafting art...

Lupe needs to drop those 3 albums though

Cot damn Atlantic filthy :wow:

With the prior knowledge about Mike Caren provided by Everyday Struggle mixed with the recent rants from Metro n Mike Will watching the Atlantic part of this video will make ya stomach turn.

Some real mind control, mental slave trade game bullshyt going on on that side. Sheesh. The execs will intentionally break down ya confidence at your own listening party, tell you ya shyt is wack, n that its not gonna sell.

Then conveniently have a team of Atlantic backed writers and producers waiting in the lobby for ya the moment you walk out the room :shaq:

Artists don't belong to fans

People should critique music, not the character of the artist.

Bashing Labels - Usual Label politics - Label Power - Artist/ Corporation difference - Balance of Power .... nothing new

Lu is to me quite possibly #1, and many Lu stans themselves would disagree with me

To me Nas is the king of hip hop, but he's not the king because he is #1. He is the king because he is a true lyricist, makes dope music, but perhaps most importantly has stood the test of time. He's been able to make great music for so long, life is good is a testament to that.
Every other rapper around the Nas era that tried to make a comeback couldn't make the sound that would appeal to today's fans, but Nas did it.
So he stood the test of time.
Lu doesn't have as much time as Nas under his belt so he can't be #1 for that reason.

Nas is the king and Lupe is #1!

We have the exact same outlook regarding Nas and Lupe, :salute:

This is true. But if one is truly passionate about what they do be it their "art" craft gift/ whatever. You find away to ensure your art remains pure, it reaches it's intended audience, you learn you adapt, If you are a gifted singer but illiterate it would behoove you to learn how to read:francis:. It's been a business you have to work within it. Or get out the business, these artist are truly nothing more than glorified street performers, they are all in the industry once they sign that contract:usure:

but then get buyers remorse:wtb:

Nah, your art would take a hit because all your mental capacity would be focused on generating $.

Being illiterate isn't the same as not knowing how to run a company. It's a steep learning curve
that's why it's better to partner with people who already have that skillset developed already.

Capital and expertise unfortunately are still with the labels...

I dont even think his music depreciated that much to warrant the way he gets ignored nowadays. As I've always said, Lupe should be running with the K-Dots and Coles as a lyricist popular with milenialls but he hasn't since 2011 it seems
