It's a good side hustle, you will make what you put in just like any business.
I live in the bay area and do it part time a couple days after work and the weekends.
A couple of tips.
1. Don't purchase a new car or lease just for Uber. If you can get a nice bucket because you will be putting a lot (a couple hundred miles per shift)of wear and tear on your car. You're going to run your car into the ground.
2. Pay attention to the app. I know what spots will be surging at what times and where to make the best buck simply from keeping track of the app. You want to maximize your driving and be as efficient as possible. I know where to be at 2am on a Saturday night vs what bart or bus station to be at 6pm on a weekday.
3. Get a dash cam. Get one that records outside as well as inside the car as well. You're doing a ton of driving and video will protect you in case something happens.
4. Learn the bonus systems and leave the Uber pool and lyft lines for the newbies. Unless your trying to hit bonuses those rides aren't usually worth it.
5. Don't fukk with drunk chick's. Get the number if it's that serious and fukk.i with them off th3 clock when they are sober. You will get hit on and propositioned but it's not worth the rape charge.
6. Have fun and make money.
There is always money to be made and how much you want to make is up to you regardless of the season.
