I listen to a lot of so called "lyrical, miracle" shyt. It got its time and place, but I would never "only" listen to it tho since it can get long winded.

There is nothing wrong with being lyrical. But to be a good MC you have to handle every element of rapping. Good lyrical rappers like Big Pun knew this and is when he still brought when we talk top notch lyricists.

There is and should be a place for lyrics in Hip hip and if you isn't into it you can just stick to listening to 90% of the "non lyrical" part of rapping.

The thread should be about unappreciation of "lyrical, miricale"-stans tho.

These mother fukkers think their opinion on Hip Hop is some what more valid just because they listen to so called "smart" Hip Hop.

They think a rapper have to be lyrical to be able to communicate a powerful message and that they have to be lyrical to be introspective. Which is of course bullshyt.

I can avoid lyrical music by choice. Its easy, I just dont put it on. But these "Hip Hop purists" are harder to avoid, and they wont shut up.

First off, "anyone can do" that is the biggest bullshyt ever. No the fukk they can't. There's very few people who have the talent to put words together and make it lyrical. what the OP did is by no means lyrical. I've never seen a rapper that wasn't very good lyrical (Minus Pac, and that's because he's dead) be considered a GOAT. There's a reason why nikkas like Future will never be up for debate as one of the greatest, regardless of how good their music sounds.

And that has nothing to do with lyricism not being a criteria. Just because some artists focus on one thing more than another doesn't mean the things they don't focus on isn't a criteria. That logic doesn't even make sense. Defense is a criteria to play in the NBA, just because you're successful at scoring, doesn't mean you not playing defense isn't a knock against your talent or skill, because it is. A major one. Just like not having the ability to put words together on a high level is a major knock against your talent.
Would you stop comparing this to other things. It won't work because the only goal is to make good music.

And what the OP did is what a lot of heads consider lyrical.

Future won't be up for debate for the greatest by who? People that don't like his music in anyway. No one cares about your list or rankings

And yes any one can sit down and rhyme big words together and write metaphors

Just like the goal in basketball is to stop the other team from scoring, just like making RAP music is to convey a message with words. Rhyming well is a criteria for that. And you can compare these two things because they correlate.

And not even Future fans would rank him as one of the greatest all-time rappers. Don't be disingenuous for the sake of arguing. It's corny.

And rhyming big words is not lyrical. That's the thing. You and the OP are saying shyt like "Dominated eradicated eliminated demonstrated physical illustrated" shyt is lyrical. IT IS NOT. Rhyming big words together doesn't make you lyrical. Conveying a coherent message (Whether it's a story or you just saying how you feel) using compound syllables and similes and other literary devices in a GOOD way is being lyrical. And writing metaphors is simple, true, but writing GOOD metaphors is NOT simple. At all.

People gotta stop making excuses for nikkas being bad at their job. Your job is to rap. Stop using the "Oh he's just making music" nikka nobody makes better music than Nas, Jay and Biggie and they rap their fukking asses off. FOH with that bullshyt.

Dudes mad at real lyricists because their favorite artist mumbles their way through their tracks. Like who u like, dont make a difference to me...but don't try diss on real emcees who are excellent at rhyming. Future can ride a trap beat and make talking about drugs sound cool because that's all he know how to do. But to actually make clever and thoughtful songs, delivering dope lyrics and yes using a vocabulary that doesn't reuse the same word over and over and without resorting to gimmicks like autotune and relying on a "hot" beat that sounds almost identical to all the other beats on your album takes talent too.

Why wouldn't Future think he is a GOAT? What kind of bum logic is that.

How are they bad at their job when that isn't their aim.

And as I said stop comparing this to sports, etc.

Not playing good defense effects the outcome of the game. Not being lyrical doesn't have any affect on your music other than some nikkas that don't matter calling you wack

And you are being disingenuous because you know rhyming Big words has always been considered lyrical by HipHop heads and rap message board needs
