How do you explain Eminem selling 50M being a "lyrical miracle doo diddly gagagooly googly" rapper? :russ:
Because Eminem has dope albums that are lyrical but make sense and tells stories. Eminem just started doing that bs since MMLP2
Plus he's white come on breh.

i fukk wit cats like future, but i still need to hear some form of creative & thought provoking lyrics over some classic hiphop type of beats too

Variety was & always have been good for hiphop thou; we need both in the game so it doesnt become completely stale

Let me make it clear for you nikkas that clearly missed my point. REAL lyricists are not lyrical miracle spiritual rappers. NAS is a lyricist. 2PAC is a lyricist. Old Eminem was a lyricist. Kendrick Lamar is a lyricist, Wu-tang full of lyricists. I never said I didn't like lyrical rappers just the types that are lyrical for no fukking reason and have nothing to show for it. There is a difference between being a lyricist and a nikka that's lyrical just to be lyrical.

Never understood why rappers get criticize for not being lyrical by HipHop heads

I agree with the OP 100%

umm bc rap is based on LYRICS. How can you really ask this question?

A rapper is supposed to be better than you at what he does. When you hear every rapper rhyming, "bottle of bub, club, luv", there's nothing impressive about that. Any of us on here can do that, so why should I listen or "jam" to that? And if I don't like it, who are you to question it?

It's like asking an adult to ride around listening to nursery rhymes instead of Bob Dylan. It's an insult to my intelligence.

There's a time/place for ignorant rap, but to state rappers as a whole don't need to be lyrical is foolishness.

"Beware" doesn't count because it's actually a good song period. Great beat, great flow. It happens to be lyrical miracle but it's already passed basic criteria and done it well.

The problem with lyrical miracle is that their beats and flows are usually straight shyt. Then they give excuses like "people are dumb to listen to my rhymes." Nah, you're just too dumb to make listenable hip hop.
Well said my g.

They are not trying to impress you with their lyrics they are trying to make good music. The only point of the lyrics is to convey your thoughts in a way that the listener connects with

As I stated the energy that goes into writing complicated lyrics is put towards adlibs, flow, delivery.

That bob Dylan comparison doesn't even make sense. People listen to what sounds good to them.

it makes perfect sense.

some of these rap songs are akin to nursery rhymes....yet YOU are expecting grown ups to accept it b/c the beat is hot.

There's a reason you can't get a song on the radio anymore saying "girl my heart is blue, ever since I lost you" But in the 1950's, many songs were as simple as that. Now you have to say that in a different way.

Where did I say yo expecting adults to like a song because of the best is hot?

This is a better example, every other week there is a thread about how Joe Budden is a great lyricist

Yet there are an infinite amount of more ADults that like and know Fetty Waps music

And it has little to do with the production. It has everything to do with the flow, deliver adlibs and vibe that Fetty brings to a song in contrast to a Joe Budden who's just being a droning "lyrical" rapper

The only goal of a rapper is to make good music and make music that people want to listen too

Being lyrical has never been a requirement in rap

What category would the great Lupe fall under?
