Snoop.

For a legend he has an awful good album to bad album ratio.

I don't know. He's still one of the best freestylers and Doggystyle & The Chronic allow him to get a pass as being able to rap. But his still after Doggystyle, you can't even say that's the same rapper.

So so far...legitmate answers are:

Guru
Master P
Pete Rock - he wants to be a rapper, I'll put him there
Nore - but no one ever thought he was good, he just made great music
Dirty - YES, even with him stealing other members' lyrics

LL Cool J, wack? I must be one of the few who are old enough to know when L came in. At the time he came on the scene, there really was no one more gifted than him lyrically with the braggadocio style. I remember RunDMC said L was the best lyricist they ever heard when he was like 15.

Even when you talk of SugarHill, Rappers Delight was dope if you compare it to what was out at that time. The lyrics were clever and witty. If you compare it to a few years later yeah, was not good because shyt had evolved. Melle, Caz, Silver Fox, Spoonie G, T-La Rock, all those guys were good.

Too Short immediately comes to mind to me, because his lyrics were so corny they were funny. I am a Too Short fan too. One of those guys that were dope without having lyrics.

Ice T wasnt very good but made dope songs too.

smh at dudes saying 2pac.

2 Live Crew, Rodney O, JJ Fad, Sir Mixalot, U-God, etc...were trash lyrically
Good post, but I can't allow the U-god slander. His high points are very high. He may not have been fancy or whatever, but he had bars.

Mystery Of Chessboxin'
Heaterz
It's A Wrap (solo album)

U-God, in a vacuum, is dope. It's just rough in a 10 man group with several bona fide stars and crazy spitters.

I'm with the Guru, ehhhhh crowd. LOL Always have been. IMO he just compliment Premo beats very well.

Its not like CL Smooth is any better but wouldn't say CL is lyrically weak either.

Unlike Group Home, guru still kept a fan base after him and premier went their seperate ways
