What's funny is Kurupt said New York New York was not diss record to NYC. He said it was actually paying homage to them. The reason for Snoop's hook was because Kurupt said he had just got done listening to Melly Mell and Grandmaster Flash. He was repeating the hook of theirs when Kurupt started his second verse. And when they started the video they wanted to put all the dope NY MC's in it at the time, including Nas. But once they got to NYC to film it, and the hook was heard, they ended up getting shot at because some concrete NYC cats didn't like what they heard (assuming it was a diss). So they were packed up and sent home (to LA) and told not to come back due to
possible further shooting attempts. And this is where the video changes. Kurupt said when they got home, they started knocking over ish cause of that incident. Hence NY
NY and Snoop supposedly crushing the NYC buildings. But not really cause they had to film the second day of the video in LA. So they had to knock over their own buildings. Since they were advised not to go back cause of the shooting attempts. Anyway, that's the story behind NY NY. It's not a diss record and yeah they really did get shot at. And Snoop wasn't literally crushing NY buildings. I'm only repeating what Kurupt cleared up and confirmed about that stint. He said all this two weeks ago.

Kurupt and Keith Murray really the smartest dumb nikkas ever. They'd use big words and have no clue what they meant

They were both dope when they weren't trying so hard to sound intellectual and just ripped the mic

tru.

chronic/doggystyle era kurupt was his best.

I luv this track tho.

But where is DMX now? :mjpls: So who really won? :youngsabo:

I don't get into these types of "arguments" but where the hell IS KURUPT now??

That was the point of the verse. He was mocking NY rappers. It wasn't supposed to make sense.

No. Kurupt even said his verses were recorder way before the song had a name or title. Snoop was listening to Melle Mel's NY NY, and got the inspiration for the hook from that song. Song originally had nothing to do with NY really until the chorus that Snoop just liked and wanted to use.

u talkin out yaw azz...x lived in cali for years with no fux given soakin up the LA sun like nyers do after puttin bullets in cali rappers:mjpls:

In our Oct. 15 issue, EW reported on the controversy around ''Calling Out,'' a hidden track on West Coast rapper Kurupt's upcoming album, ''Streetz Iz a Mutha.'' It was feared the cut, which attacks East Coast rappers, including DMX and his posse, Ruff Ryders, and disses -- without naming -- Kurupt's ex, Foxy Brown, would reignite rap's coastal tensions.
That uncertain peace may have been shattered on Oct. 17, when, according to police, two suspects fired on a crowd outside the studio where Kurupt was recording, killing the rapper's security guard and wounding two others. The LAPD had no suspects or motives at press time, but several Internet music sites quoted a source at Kurupt's label, ANTRA, as reportedly stating the song may have been a factor.

A DMX spokesman denied any connection whatsoever to the shooting. In what the label says is its only official statement, ANTRA CEO Joe Marrone also refuted a lyrical link and expressed ''fervent hope that there be no more violence in the hip-hop community.'' His peace offering? ANTRA will release ''Streetz'' Nov. 16, with the inflammatory track intact.

:mjpls:

people seem to have forgotten about this.
