If Aaliyah would've lived long enough and had the opportunity to work on her voice the way Beyonce and other artists have

:wow:

She already could sing, she just needed to learn how to build up some power. That plus her movie ventures together would've been :damn:

:to:

Ok, I'm done daydreaming now let's lock up this thread

Negative. Beyonce has writing, or co-writing credits to alot of her songs. She's also a MUCH, MUCH better singer than Aaliyah was, and for anyone to debate that is silly. She's also a MUCH, MUCH better performer than Aaliyah was. And as far as her song contents...do you realize that all of Aaliyah's classic material was written by someone else? Namely R.Kelly and Missy Elliot. Plus she benefited greatly by having one of the great producers of the late 90's (Timbaland) and easily the greatest R&B artists/producers of his generation (R.Kelly). Aaliyah sold well but Beyonce has sold more. And you can call Beyonce's music "generic" all you like, she still has made numerous memorable hits that will be played for generations to come. Whether you like the content to those songs, or not, is irrelevant. They're already considered classic or are gonna be considered classic. She has songs that has basically become female anthems. She has a lane and she's mastered it and has become an international icon in the process. And if we're gonna debate on ,the admittedly shallow topic, of looks I give Beyonce the nod there too. Pretty face, gorgeous voluptuous body. Aaliyah had a beautiful face but had the body of a pre-developed teenage girl.

AGAIN...I LOVE AALIYAH. I still have plenty of her songs in rotation daily. But It's now becoming to the point where I believe she has become the female version of Big L. A great talent that undeservedly gets placed amongst the ICONS because of their untimely deaths.

And it's been stated several times that Beyonce just changes a word or two and she's put down as a "songwriter" because of her status. It doesn't make her a songwriter, it just makes her a smart buisnesswoman and con artist. Being 1/6 writers on a song doesn't make you a songwriter. Until you post songs that Beyonce has written soley by herself, she doesn't get that point, from me.

Vocally, Aaliyah died young so she didn't have a chance to improve her voice like Beyonce did. I'm no fool, if we compare 2012 Beyonce to 2001 Aaliyah, Beyonce wins.. But back in the 90's, Beyonce's voice was nothing special. She was average at best. Even if I give Beyonce the vocal win, Aaliyah still trumped Beyonce in dancing and acting. So it's not like Beyonce just beat Aaliyah in every category.

and Thirdly, You say Aaliyah relied on her production team. Doesnt Beyonce do the same? The Dream, Sean Garrett, and even Ne-yo penned some of her biggest hits. Like I told Homeboy, I don't know why y'all try to use that "aaliyah relied on tim and missy" as a reason to discredit her. At the end of the day, Aaliyah used producers and songwriters just like Beyonce, Michael Jackson, and alot of other artists did and still do till this day. The only difference is, Aaliyah stayed with the same team of producers.

Beyonce came from a group (already had hype) and has overall been in the game longer than Aaliyah. I would hope she sold more. :jawalrus: Like I said, Beyonce's music is more marketed towards radio. Aaliyah's music was more different and wasn't aimed for pop radio like Beyonce. Beyonce= Generic Radio food. Aaliyah= Risk taking using innovative sounds. It don't take no genius to figure out who would have more radio hits.

In the r & b world, she is an icon. She's not a worldwide icon like Elvis or Michael Jackson, but in the r & b genre, she's a legend. She's the 10th most sucessful female r & b singer of all time, according to billboard.

&& I guess you forgot about Beyonce's's breast implants and ass pads. :bryan::bryan::bryan::bryan:

Dont get me wrong, Beyonce's body is banging, but all it was is just surgery. Im sure if Aaliyah really wanted to, she could have had the same result.

Yall dudes is crazy for taking it this far.

But to squash the whole thing, A had better writers FOR HER LEVEL.

She wasn't as big as B, and wasn't aiming for the same audience.
A was clearly for the urban market, and B was clearly using the urban market until she could crossover.
Two very different end goals.

Talentwise though, its clearly in B's favor.
Vocally she shat on her, and dancewise as well. Even back then.
B has gotten better control of her voice over the years, cuz back then she used to oversing.
A didn't even have that option, poor girl.

If A were alive today, she'd likely be Brandy status, respected by the olderheads, but a relic to the youngstas today. But i doubt that as well, since A never had the skill with her cords that Brandy had.

Its one thing to say that you prefer Aaliyah's music to Bey's (I do), but your a got damn fool if you think she is a better so her or performer than B. Aaliyah is an icon, Beyonce will be a legend.

I agree that Beyonce has more talent. It just depends if the argument is about who made better music in which talent becomes irrelevant. IMO: Aaliyah, while limited, made the best use of what she was given where Beyonce kind of coasts. It's not that Beyonce should be vocally killing every track, it's just that a lot of the music she makes is mediocre. Take Beyonce's records that are aimed at a Hip Hop crowd ("Diva", "Video Phone"), they sound like Beyonce re-making "A Milli" instead of a genuine Beyonce record that caters to a Hip Hop audience.

Beyonce has more experience in the music buissness than Aaliyah, of course she would be "more talented" by now.

Dont have me post more of them Destiny Child clips from back in the day :mjpls:

Where's the valid reasons? Beyonce she doesn't write her own music, she doesn't produce, she doesn't really have any classic songs and her songs are generic as shyt. Lol @ you making it seem like Beyonce is the female mozart or something. That b!tch has been KNOWN for stealing and copying . How do you even consider her an artist? FOH.

Backfired how? You said Monica sold more albums... I proved otherwise.
You said Monica and Brandy DIDN'T have beef.. I proved otherwise.
You said Brandy and her mother didn't talk sh!t about Aaliyah.. I proved otherwise.
You said that Aaliyah wasn't boycotted after that r kelly scandal.. I proved otherwise...

So which one of these did I backfire on?

And each time these facts were proven, you dance around it with some weak @ss insult, just like you did in this very post I quoted. :umad:

:what:

1. monica & aalyiah's joint sold the same. and i remember everybody left that argument at a stand-still because last we checked back in the day, monica sold more while aalyiah's sales were inflated when she died. and none of you on the other side of the rope said anything and you let it die from there. and i didnt even know you were in this thread back then. i didnt notice youre name until you kept following me around arguing about dumb chit. lol. what a nobody.

2. the monica/brandy beef was AFTER "the boy is mine" was already out. THIS IS ONE OF THE MANY EXAMPLES OF YOU KILLING YOUR OWN ARGUMENTS WITH YOUR LINKS YOU DUMB F**K.

3. for the millionth time, i gave you props for proving me wrong about brandy & her mom throwing shots at aalyiah. so come again with the "you cant admit when youre wrong" bullchit that youre endlessly trying to push in here.

4. i never said anything about a boycot existing or not. i just said that she didnt lose any fans from that fiasco. and that album had pretty much done what it was gonna do by the time that chit hit the fan anyway. THIS IS ONE OF THE NUMEROUS EXAMPLES OF YOU ARGUING WITH ME ABOUT CHIT THAT I DIDNT EVEN SAY.

get away from me man. youre too stupid to be carrying a conversation with me. like youre really dumb. its not even an insult. just go argue with somebody else.

Obviously there is a generational gap to whom one is going to side with. I listen and enjoy Aaliyah music more compared to Beyonce whole musical career, but that is not going to stop me from saying that Beyonce is on top and running the game now.

^^i prefer to listen to aalyiah but putting her up against beyonce is a wierd & ridiculous comparison. and i think beyonce is overrated.

but obviously beyonce's overratedness pales in comparison to some.

aaliyah was a decade deep(if not longer) as a serious singer.

if her voice was going to improve, it wouldve improved long before she died. cut the chit.

beyonce was already a better singer than her before she died, and aaliyah was singing just as long as her, if not longer.

smh @ me in here arguing in favor of the carter faculty.:scusthov:

Aaliyah was only in the game for seven years, and 5 of those years she took a hiatus. Beyonce, including Destiny's Child, was in the game for 15 years! thus, more exprience. And Beyonces voice wasn't better than sh!t. Cut that out. Neither of them were known for being amazing singers back in the 90's. I'll even give THAT credit to Monica.

And Aaliyah's voice was improving before she died.

Compare.

BTW this is the song that IMPRESSED Whitney Houston, before you even talk sh!t about it (which I know you will)
