That article was a nice summation of Melo's career. I'd hate to see another great player's career turn into another big "what if" because ( and I know a few fellow Knicks fans here will disagree) the Bulls really were the perfect fit for him, especially with Lebron going to a younger, more inexperienced team now and the East being wide open. Hopefully in 5 years the Knicks make at least 1 title run( it goes without saying, but we'd definitely need a few things to break right for us in order to do that), and hopefully Melo doesn't look back on his career here as time wasted.

Why is the Bulls the perfect fit for anyone when their franchise player has only played 49 games in 3 years, and their defensive anchor only played 66+ games one time in 5 years, and had to have knee surgery after doing so? Why would it be a perfect for 'Melo to go to a team where their franchise player and defensive anchor are both coming off of injury when he just went through that with J.R? Why would it be a perfect for 'Melo to go to a team where their franchise player and defensive anchor both have knee issues when he's been going through that with STAT for 2 or 3 years? Why would it be a perfect for 'Melo to go to a team where their best big has, of all things, feet issues? Why would it be better for anyone to leave Phil?

Katz just aggy that 'Melo got money, Phil, the G.O.A.T. offense, imminent cap space (Marc Gasol), a coach who is teaching defense more intensely than Kerr ever will, and a coach who has his team playing super hard for him because he's able to command high respect, a quality Kerr also doesn't have. No one wanted to see him get all of that. Lj has bummy Cleveland (the city isn't bummy, just the franchise). No franchise player in the East has what 'Melo has. #MeloWon

I dont agree with you often- But I do here.:leon:

Bulls may have been a 'better' team, but far from perfect.

The team's best player (Rose) is undependable and at this point, even if he manages to stay healthy, he will likely be a shell of his former self.

The Bull's have the worst offense in the league at 93.7 (3 points lower than the 2nd to lowest team). Are you telling me that Melo would have increased this by 10 points? :usure:When opposing teams know that all they have to do is clamp down on Melo? Teams do that now- but at least JR is a more dangerous secondary scorer than anyone on the Bulls at this point. So Melo has to burden the Offense burden just the same at Chi.

I know this is all contingent on Rose's comeback, but for a guy whose gift was his athleticism coming off 2 knee surgeries?:heh:Not looking great.

Soo in summation- Melo would have went to a 'better' team- but that squad also has several questions on offense of their own, and were far from a 'lock' to win the EC.

fukk the pipe dream 2015 and you still have flexibility for 2016 with the free agents I'm more intrigued by.

Golden State Warriors and Knicks

Knicks receives Andrew Bogut, David Lee, Harrison Barnes, 2 future 2nd round picks

Golden State receives Amare Stoudemire, Andrea Bargnani, Iman Shumpert, Pablo Prigioni

Sign Michael Beasley 2 yr/ 11 million (will be able to use MLE by the GSW/NYK trade), 2yr, player option

Release Ellington
Send Antetokoumpo to NBA DL
Resign Toure Murry

Bogut/Dalembert/Aldrich
Lee/Beasley/Tyler/
Anthony/Barnes/Early
Smith/Hardaway jr/Brown
Calderon/Larkin/Murry

Easily a 44 win team

nah man, no more doing other teams favors, especially the warriors who are always nipping at the knick's heels when it comes to improving their team. If the knicks can't get a star in 2015 just sign up some cap space taking players to a 2 year, team option on the second year contract and try again in 2016. There is no reason to help GS out of their roster jam. Let em figure it out with Kerr.

Tweeted this out yesterday but I'll post it here too -

Calderon/Prigs/Larkin
Shump/THJR/Ellington
Cleanthony/JR
Melo/STAT/Bargs
Dalembert/Aldrich

K-Mart & Jeremy Tyler.

That rounds out our 15 player lineup. I assume we're gonna stash Thanasis overseas in the Greek league for a year unless Ellington gets waived.

Compare this roster vs last year

Felton/Prigs/Udrih
Shump/THJR
Melo/MWP
STAT/Bargs
Chandler/Aldrich
plus K-Mart, Tyler, Shannon Brown, Chris Smith, Toure Murry, Earl Clark.

And yeah, you can see the noticeable changes, youth and better depth IMO.

Tenacious D looks like he is going to make the roster. He is raw but like I said earlier Fisher hired a couple of the Thunders coach to apparently help with development.

Stuff phil and fisher have said about the team playing defense and needing somebody out there with shump who likes to play D to support that (or hold it down if shump gets into foul trouble) makes me think he'll make the roster. He won't see a lot of minutes but thats normal for a second round rookie.

I love him because he gets hype off of every defensive stop like 2012 Shump( I miss that dude:damn:

But :merchant: at his hacking and slashing... He's going to have Clyde rapping like he's in a URL tournament.

Knicks haven't resigned Tyler, Brown or Martin. They're probably going to sign Early & Antetokoumpo to their rookie deals, if not assign him to their D-League team
