That's like making the honor roll in summer school.
I don't think this works in the triangle. Unless you expect Melo to be the play the focal post position. Id like to think that the goal is to have him at the corner three. Maybe Jason smith on the post with Calderon up top. Then stat and Shump I guess on the opposite side? Really wish we would have signed Pau.

Here's a good breakdown of the knicks cap situation.
After reading it all I can say is I hope JR has a great season and decides to opt out......
I think they are going to move Melo around. It makes sense against some team's lineups him working as the distributing PF makes a lot of sense. What the shouldn't do is say Melo will only play the 3 or 4 like Woodson did at different times during the season for no reason.

As the roster stands now, I'd prefer Melo playing the 4 if because if nothing else it will keep that STAT/Bargs combo off the floor

Knicks just signed Jason Smith to a 1 yr, $3.3 million deal using our Mini MLE...That's a good signing if he can stay healthy. Above average rebounder who can extend the defense with his shooting ability. I love this move actually.
There's a log jam upfront. I love it though. Knicks now have 16 players on their roster. If they sign Shannon which I expect them to do, I can see Knicks really shopping Amare or Stoudemire around as soon as possible. I like the team the way it is though.

The team salary must be at or above a defined percentage of the salary cap on the date of the team's last regular season game. So teams must spend 90% of what the salary cap is projected to be.
So teams like Philly, Utah, Orlando, Atlanta, Phoenix, Detroit and Charlotte will be active in trying to either acquire or sign players probably on 1 yr deals so they can meet all cap requirements. I guess this is a a way for teams not to officially tank.
I can see Amare being moved back to Phoenix for a 1yr, or Bargnani be shipped to Atlanta or Philly
