Yes because the new GM overspent everywhere, we had an older team and there was no reason to change the QB coming off a fairly good year for a guy who I felt was a known commodity in Geno.

The roster was going to have been purged this year regardless of which guy they started at QB.

And that did not conflict with wondering if we had a young and cheap qb to give us a few years.

Maccagnan used a 4th rounder to buy a 5th rounder this year to draft Shell because he traded for Clady. Clady played what 6 games? Now we're also down a 4th next year for a guy who basically gave us nothing. It's poor roster management. Black coaches historically get a ridiculously short leash. Why not give Bowles the same chance that any white coach would have? One good season, one bad season. That doesn't merit a pink slip for a white coach. Especially a coach with such an awful QB situation. How many games do you win when your starter finishes the season with a less than 70 QB Rating? And is Ron Rivera on the hot seat too? Should he get fired now too? If Bowles "clearly has zero control over the team" then it's even worse for him. He had more talent and a bigger dropoff.

When you have big name guys at key spots under performing, there's not much you can do about that. When you have a defense that doesn't have faith in the offense, there's not much you can do about that.

Jim Tomsula has half as much NFL coaching experience as Todd Bowles. And Chip Kelly is a college coach. Compare him to guys like Steve Spurrier, not guys who worked their way up the NFL coaching ranks like Ron Rivera, Todd Bowles, Ben McAdoo, etc.
