Brandon Shell is going to be the starter for the Jets at RT next year and was a 5th round pick.(who Maccganan burnt a 4th on to acquire)

What is your definition of a rebuild? You keep harping the Jets should have been rebuilding this year but you were in favor of the Clady trade and Forte signing. Pretty sure you liked the Revis and Skrine deals too. Your stance is wishy washy.
Yes...5th round picks make it. Doesn't change the fact that most don'tt. So exactly what did you alter about my point?

You can get "pretty sure" about all the other things if you want. I saw no problem with getting Skrine as a slot corner since he was deemed one of the best at it. The jets were deemed smart for getting him at the cost we did,yet you think you've proved something in bringing him up after he failed. Did you say anything when signed?

No

He can't get over Geno not starting. It consumes him. He's STILL whining about Geno :mjlol: he never once mentioned wanting to rebuild till now
And here it is again. You holding hands with your boy on some corny dr. Melphi shyt after repeatedly being wrong.

It sounds like this rebuild consisted of burning through cap space and trading picks for short term starters so we could "see what we had" in Geno . That's not a rebuild
It sounds like you're piecing together what you want to hear.

Seeing what Geno had after he outplayed your "best option at qb" for two straight camps is a failure of thinking on my part?

Maccagnan used a 4th rounder to buy a 5th rounder this year to draft Shell because he traded for Clady. Clady played what 6 games? Now we're also down a 4th next year for a guy who basically gave us nothing. It's poor roster management. You rarely see good franchises trade picks for guys with big salaries.the Jets have a habit of doing it

Geno has 30 career starts and more than 40 turnovers. He has a sack rate at about 8%. He's never going to be a good QB.

he's been looking pretty good since stepping in. that's not a bad option as well:ehh:

6ft.if he's 205lbs then I'm 225...Petrino simplified his playbook for his playing style. That if my first option isn't there, tuck it and run shyt won't work in the league......see the Clemson game when he had to make throws into tight windows and/or make anticipatory throws, he was off the mark. Teams late in the season were willing to let him run. He can clean it up but still don't see him being able to be even be Tyrod Taylor.

that's a fair point since petrino and a few other coaches don't care about pro development. i'm not too worried about his frame because i think he'll bulk up some by the 2018 draft. i see a decent passer right now who showed he can look off defenders and make good throws. i just think in 2 years he'll have taken a big leap and will take a bigger leap training in the nfl. he reminds me of mariota and RG3 in terms of raw talent.

Here is where we don't agree.

I don't know if he would be because

1. He shouldn't have played his first year. Rex poor decision forced that, so I don't use his rookie season against him. You and most idiot Jets fans do so instead of looking at his first season being a failure of management.

2. He improved his second season while having worse weapons

so the "I don't know if he can be good" still stands to me and not for you.

Congrats

I disagree that there's potential untapped potential with Geno. Petty has been given much less time than Geno ever got and he's a waste of time too. The defensiveness over Geno Smith in every Jets thread is ridiculous.

Petty came out of a bigger gimmick college program and was never good as Geno.

And here you are again, turning things into the defensiveness of Geno" already ignoring what I spelled out.

I don't think Geno is any good. I didn't think we needed to see him anymore to make that determination. Nothing more than that.

But you wanted to see Fitz who was damn near a decade older and gave the same Geno production because of a fluke 2015 wheee you branded staticians as flukey when they brought up intecrptables (now touted by Gil Brandt),catch radius and other things.

Remarkable

Yes because the new GM overspent everywhere, we had an older team and there was no reason to change the QB coming off a fairly good year for a guy who I felt was a known commodity in Geno.

The roster was going to have been purged this year regardless of which guy they started at QB.
