You guys are damn sick

Ok....it's all us....the people from different walks of life who happen not to agree with you....not you.

:beli:

SEriously....you didn't post with this much passion and outrage over Paterno's lack of action.

We both know it...and its' always easier to get angry at someone you don't know in Mark
Emmert than it is to be at someone whose beloved and familiar to you like Joe Paterno.

It is absolutely sick fukking grandstanding to take the position that I must not care about child abuse when people have been writing columns for 3 days now saying the same thing I'm saying...................................... Just because I'm a PSU supporter. Nah, that shyt is not going to fly.

My "passion" in this thread is 95% me responding to yalls accusations of my true motivations - implying I don't care about victims, I'm not really mad at Paterno (which is the furthest thing from the truth), all sorts of shyt, just because I wanna talk about the NCAA. WHEN YALL HAVE A 1000 REPLY THREAD ON THIS TALKING ABOUT IT. But no one would say yall don't care and should be talking about victims cuz hey, yall were lucky enough to support other schools who care about football way too much and didn't have to deal with this.

I didn't say you didn't care. I just don't feel you passionately cared as much into ripping Joe Paterno's negligence as you're doing others.

Nah...it just looks like you're being selective at who to be 'outraged" at. Can you HONESTLY say you felt this inner anger when finding out about Joe's lack of action?

thats the feeling I get from most PSU supporters, students, and alums too. One dude went out and said this is their 9/11 :what:

I do agree the NCAA overstepped their boundaries, but if there was a case when they should.... um... this one.

Exactly . Where the outrage over all the other times they decided to punish people for a minor infraction that doesn't affect competitive balance. This isn't the case to feel sympathy hell I wouldn't care if you got the death penalty . The guy did it on campus for years and was allowed to unincumbered because they wanted to protect their image. If a Coach has power enough to overrule every other authority figure on campus that is lack of instutional control. Putting football over child abuse ?:mindblown:

Fair assessment, but in equal fairness, I shouldn't have to show that to you. In comparable situations, when "outsiders" criticize "your" community, even if you feel the same way, the instinct is not to pile on, but to internalize the disappointment and pain you feel. The rest of the world is trying to shame us all, lump us all in with the stooges. Not exactly the same but similar: if your fam fukks up and "outsiders" start piling on, even if you know they fukked up, you may turn your back and stop fukking with them because that internal disappointment is deep as fukk, but you're not going to join the mob and run them over just the same. I know how I feel and I don't need to prove it to you. And now there's new things to talk about

And many of yall disagree, but I've already linked THREE respected writers who feel the same as me, as well as some of yalls hero Bomani Jones:

Penn State, And The NCAA's Thirst For Punishment - SBNation.com

My position that wasn't the NCAA's business and that Emmert is a hypocrite is not unique to me or PSU fans

Hard to say this isn't their business when this is a never seen before situation. Sometimes events cause the authoritative organization to take control which is the case here.

I think it's possible to be outraged at Paterno + the PSU rape clique AND the NCAA as well. Of course those at PSU get more outrage; as they should. Personally, everyone who was involved with the scandal should be locked up forever. But at the end of the day,

- not a single person involved with the tragedy got punished yesterday
- the NCAA won't do a damn thing to condemn Graham Spanier.
- As heavy as the punishment was, it won't do a damn thing to prevent something like this scandal happening again. As long as the NCAA continues to make BILLIONS off athletes who don't get one red cent (And don't give me that academic bullshyt), it'll happen again. It doesn't have to be child rape; it might assault, robbery, kidnapping, or even murder that gets covered up.

People wanted someone to bleed, so the NCAA sacrificed Penn State University. That's all. No academic culture is going to spring up as a result of this. Football will continue to corrupt those who refuse to compensate college athletes properly.

Thread should've ended here

And therein lies the key to the NCAA overstepping its bounds and delving into territory the courts are already handling, and are designed to handle. They know they can go out and execute a power grab, put themselves in the lime light, and position themselves as the good guys because none of yall gonna say shyt because the situation is so egregiously bad. Of course what that poster said is true, which is why everyone is going down in the courts of law, courts of public opinion, PSU's wallet, PSU's reputation, etc. etc.. The NCAA added nothing. And has been profiting for YEARS from the culture it somehow manages to single out PSU and condemn it for

I'm confused

Are you saying the NCAA should have taken zero action?
