Everyone knows all this... The problem is, you talking about what it SHOULD be and we're talking about what is actually is....
What is this education everyone is speaking of, that allows you to make 6 figures and up and only puts in 40 hours? It's surely not anyone in management, who often has to answer work issues after hours. It's surely not any type of medical field, where they have to work constantly. It's not any type of project management, as we all know that's going to spill over. It's not even sports and entertainment, as those dudes work/practice/train/film/promote all the damn time. Computers, stem, engineering? None of those fields are really going to let you clock in at 9am and clock out at 5pm and have zero work to handle until 9am the next day when you arrive. When you're given that much money or responsibilities, the job stops having hours.
Ok so maybe you want to work for yourself instead of slaving for the man. Good luck owning a business and clocking in at 9a and out at 5pm. So cancel that plan.
Ok so why not just make a cool 40k and not be so pressed for cash and live a great life? Cause nobody is retiring at 65, enjoying vacations, taking care of themselves, eating nice dinners and lunches, doing family outings, paying off the crib and living like a european making 40k in the USA. Those the main ones needing a second and third hustle, just to get their kids through college. Let alone even finding a job to give you all that vacation time.. Paid vacation time at that.
What are these jobs y'all are talking about? Cause the money and lifestyle isn't just for now. How much you put away now will directly affect your life when you want to stop working. In fact, busting your ass now, will have you at a point to not work, a hell of a lot sooner. Those 75 year old retail workers doing a 9-5, would love to have worked some extra hours to avoid that.
So yea.. The system is fukked up. But it's the system. People ain't working like this because they want to. They are forced to because you'd be hard pressed to find a bunch of open jobs that will give you all the shyt you talking about
60+ ? Oh y’all got me fukked up. Only exception is if it is for your own business. Working harder and longer is not smart.
My time to myself and my family is worth a lot more than tacking on extra hours of work when the end goal is the cash out on your time.
Especially in this era where big corporations are making record profits. The great resignation can be a good thing because it’s forcing the employment game to be a an employee’s market. Nowadays, when you go into a job interview, it’s like they interviewing you to see if you accept the job. Many employers are desperate right now with the amount of people quitting. Why? Because they are burnt the fukk out. Covid made essential workers realize hard work doesn’t necessarily put you ahead. And the work from home crowd realized the precious work-life balance and freedom they were missing slaving away at the office all day. Same with folks on unemployment last year. 
Then drop dead at age 55 when you’re body breaks down or become an alcoholic and die soon after because you don’t know what do with your time once you’re emancipated from the slavery that stole your entire youth. 
Emotion will have you losing all sense of logic and have you arguing just to argue
