I agree 100%. fukk Cilvaringz. End of story. Never could stand that dude. I can't even put the full blame of this on RZA because Cilvaringz was the main brain behind this dumb idea.

I must just be in a shytty mood tonight. I appreciate the links (no pun intended). Definitely closer to the early Wu sound.

Does anyone know anything about how the album sounds? Are they just chasing the 36 Chambers vibe on it? I'm guessing that's part of the selling point?

Don't shoot me but I'd honestly rather have Ghost or Rae in charge of picking production for the album.

There was a video floating around with a minute or so of audio....it sounded like vintage Wu.

You might not agree with it but that was always the plan :manny:

You can save the explanation. They would and possibly will because there is still only 1 physical copy. Everyone gets to look upon priceless pieces of art in museums but we don't all get to own them and take them home. Does that mean that art has no value? This was the basis of the idea.

Y'all being real short sighted. An institution could buy it or a corporation like Samsung/apple to give out to free digitally etc. No end to the posobilities.

Yes, you can only see AN ORIGINAL PAINTING in a specific museum.

But you can BUY A COPY OF THAT PAINTING anytime you want.

Meanwhile, NOBODY WILL BE ALLOWED TO BUY A COPY of the Wu-Tang album.

THAT is the difference.

It makes no fukking sense.

I can buy a copy of a Van Gogh painting, or a Dali painting, or any painting in the world, any time I want, from the comfort of my computer. Then I can put these copies of paintings up in my apartment. Meanwhile, buying a copy of the Wu-Tang album will not be allowed. It's ridiculous.

Well fukk. Now I'm just sad.

:mjcry:

That sounded better than I expected.

Therein lies the dilemma. Not much of this album has been heard but the handful of people that have heard it say it's a continuation of "36 Chambers" and "Wu-Tang Forever".

I don't think people (not you, I mean in general) know that. They think we're just bugging off a random ass Wu album not coming out. We're bugging off this album not coming out for a very specific reason.

How was it always the plan? I'm not being sarcastic. I've followed this and from what I understand, this is a pretty new plan. This 88 years shyt is definitely
brand new. People thought they'd either get to hear the album

A: On tour

B: Released digitally; either leaked, or by having to pay for it later.

Someone born tomorrow morning has a high chance of being dead before 88 years.

The art museum thing is crazy to me also. You look at art in an art museum. There's no way to hear this album without hearing it. the art is in how it sounds. No matter how fancy the packaging is. If they put the package in a museum, people would go, "Okay, but where the fukk is U-God's verse? I wanna hear it."

I do agree with you that art can have value, even if people don't get to own it or have it. This could very well be the best piece of art ever created, and presented in the most artistic way of all time. It's still an awful idea.

"Basically that" - Meth
The plan was always one big sale and the owner would decide how its heard but not sold... It was never going to be retail. Whether it is in a museum or road tour is irrelevant to the 88 year controversy.

Thanks for the info. I don't mean it sarcastically, but I still think if you separate both of those bad ideas, even if they aren't relevant to each other, they're still really bad ideas.

It makes perfect sense. SOMEBODY is allowed to buy A copy as in 1 hence the hype for exclusive ownership and price tag. YOU can hear it if the BUYER chooses to share freely. It was always sold as a 1 copy album. Why would u spend 5 mill for a general mass release item?

Now given that there was only 1 copy being sold ever where did fake controversy come from? The only question so far has been if when and how it will be heard.
