“WAS CATS FUCCIN WIT MICHAEL IN THE 80S”

IF U WIN ILL TAKE THAT BAN....

U WONT DO IT

im realizing that the problem here is that alot of this is getting lost in translation.

no one said that cats werent f*ckin with mike in the '80s.

all i said was that the hipper and more live types of black folks who grew up on J5 in the 60s and/or 70s were generally off mike when he was having his biggest runs with thriller, bad, moonwalker, etc.

dre/eazy are about that age ,and on top of that, they were hip-hop. HARDCORE hip-hop at that.
that was kinda where this whole thing started. then it took a massive turn when people refused to digest the idea that michael jackson was a laughing stock before the '90s. and here we are on page 10 with you driving all the way off the road.

There's an article posted in this thread where Dre discussed why he didn't want to work with Michael Jackson. Dre likes introducing new artists because it is a greater challenge in taking a new artist, giving them a sound, and they blow up. Whereas working with Michael Jackson, there's pressure on both artists to make something that stands up to or exceeds their best work.

Its producers that have Michael Jackson records to their credit, but when you look at MJ's work, rarely if ever do those records hold up to what he and Quincy Jones created. For example, R. Kelly wrote and produced "You're Not Alone". Song went #1 and all. Think it even set records, but in the grand scheme of things, does that song even one of the best in either artist's catalog?
That was 95 MJ. We talking 91 MJ. Worlds apart honestly.

U have zero facts to back this shyt up. I don’t know who the fukk YOU was hanging with but I ain’t met a single damn person in life old or young shytting on Thriller Michael Jackson. Some people may PREFER the Off The Wall album. shyt. I PREFER the Off The Wall album. But u take shyt TOO far fam. And try to pass them crazy ass hot takes off as facts and this is where u end up looking like an ass fam. Lol. Then. This also is supposed to support the fact that it would’ve been a BAD idea for Dre to produce for MJ in 91. U are fukking nuts bruh. lol

so where are YOUR facts to back up the chit that youre spewing?
you bring up my age as if i cant speak on it. then you shouldnt speak on it either, seeing how youre either the same age or even a year younger.

also, i never said all this stuff. i never said anybody was str8 chittin on thriller or whatever. im just saying alot of headz wasnt f*ckin with it, or mike anymore in general.
youre in your feelings putting extra words on my keyboard.

and yes, i did say that mike was a laughing stock in the '80s.
the fact that this is news to you, shows that youre the one who shouldnt be speaking on this. not me.

nikka. YOU stopped fukkin wit Mike after the Bad album. The nikka that dapped u said black people stopped fukkin wit Mike after Thriller. That’s just fukkin stupid. It’s stupid. No matter what age u are. It’s just fukkin dumb.

Y’all a was aren’t even alive at the time trying to tell me about something I lived through. :mjlol:

I remember one time in class around the Bad era, a teacher asked the class if we listen to MJ and the entire class started laughing. The teacher was taken back and asked why and kids were like “He juh lame”

By this time people were already applying the weirdo label to him. There were rumors that his dad made him take female hormones for his voice etc. He wasn’t the cool MJ of thriller.

Plus this was the golden era of rap... pop music got the :camby:

shyt even 3000 dissed and called MJ a sell out on TLC Crazy Sexy Cool album.

i NEVER said black people as a whole stopped rockin with mike. i made it abundantly clear as to what i was saying and got very specific. but i see i was wasting my time, because you dudes just wanna be in your feelings.

also, im not gonna say the same exact thing as the homie @Robbie3000 because its two different perspectives.
his perspective as a student was that mike was played when BAD was out.
i was relaying the perspective of people who were already adults years prior when thriller was out. of course mike is gonna lose cool points with that crowd before he loses points with the kids in school.
meanwhile, theres our crowd where we going from being toddlers thru kindergarten. of course mike was a super hero to us. i didnt curve mike until he dropped that dissappointing ass dangerous tape. granted, i was ahead of most kids my age, who were still stuck on the same chit as they were still spoon-feeding mike to us. they didnt stop showing those '80s BAD and moonwalker VHS tapes in schools and after-school babysitter spots until after we were already a few years deep into the '90s. most of the kids swearing by those videos didnt even know there was a dangerous album. point is, you can be your age and still relate to the perspective of those older & younger than you. if you wanna be resisitant because you wanna hold on to your childhood nostalgia, thats fine. but youre gonna look real stupid in the process.

chit i dont know who raised some of yall, but when we were coming up, we would get scolded by our elders if we imitate the more flimsy mike moves. unfortunately, thats a lost art. people dont do that anymore, and now society is over-run with LGBQTGIF.

Even with '91 MJ, that pressure is still there even more so with him coming off BAD. From what Dre was saying, he's much rather produce new artists because it's a blank slate. You could go anywhere. Michael was well established.

Cause Cacs and Europeans MILFs still loved MJ.

Before the internet, it took years for white people to catch on to what was cool. By that time, we had moved on to something else.

Like said, I’m not listening to someone who wasn’t even alive at the time tell me about some shyt I lived through.

This is pointless.

There's a world a difference between an artist being and their music being a joke and people generally not liking the music. Yeah people clowned MJ because he was parodying himself at that point. Ever seen the video for "Leave Me Alone"? Still, if you threw on "Billie Jean", people still loved that song and others even if they looked at MJ as a weirdo. You got people in here legit saying "hip Black people were off MJ" as if Motown 30 didn't exist.

Sure people who had came up off the Motown sound and loved the Jackson 5 when Mike was little Michael probably wasn't here for Mike when he blew up solo. And Michael is a different story altogether because he looked different from album to album. His skin color, his hair, his facial features, and EVERYTHING changed. So when you come from Black people and you're all of a sudden pale, we don't see you the same, but will still ride with the music, which was the case with Michael Jackson. He was even alienating people who were close to him because of his metamorphosis.

To say “hip black people” as if we some sort of monolith let’s me know nikkas was some followers and ain’t as “hip” as they claim to be.
