DRE IS LITERALLY THE QUINCY JONES OF HIP-HOP....AND LMFAO@TEDDY DOIN MORE THAN DRE.......TEDDY DONT SIT ON A TRACK FOR WEEKS, FROM INCEPTION TO COMPLETION THE WAY DRE DO. YOU ARE DELUSIONAL. I REMEMBER FROM THE SCOTT STORCH VS MANNIE FRESH BATTLE THREAD, YOU DISRESPECTED DRE IN THERE TOO.

LIKE I SAID, IF I NAMED 10 DRE HITS FROM 86-94, IT WOULD SHIIT ON THE LIST U POSTED.

ARE U A CAC? ONE OF THOSE PRETENTIOUS MUFUCCAZ WHO THINKS HIP-HOP IS A LOWER LEVEL ART FORM THAN "REAL MUSIC"?? FUCC OUTA HERE WIT THIS NONSENSE BRODIE.
Am I a CAC? Because I think that Dr Dre isn’t as talented a producer as Teddy Riley? nikka are u fukking serious? Ur love for Dre really fried ur fukkin brain. Dre is more a traditional producer than a beat maker which is why I feel it’s a comparison in the first place. But Teddy Riley is a BETTER traditional producer than Dre. Because he has more in his arsenal. I dont think Hip Hop is lower than shyt. Which is WHY I value cats like Preemo as HIP HOP producers more than Dre. I’m tired of u wit this shyt fam. Not EVERYBODY suck off Dre like u do. He’s one of the GOATS but he ain’t THE GOAT to me. U act like u the only muthafukka who deal with music.

I don’t need to. Dre’s biggest ain’t better than Teddy’s imo. Especially when u consider that Teddy DOES put in more production work than Dre. And this ain’t an opinion. He’s just the more talented musician. Next thing u know u gonna be telling me Dre is better than Babyface. Or Quincy Jones. Or Stevie Wonder. Lol

Or Jimmy/Terry
Or The Neptunes

all of these producers can also write and actually play instruments and have cross genre success (which Dre does not). Now some could say “look at what he did with Gwen” but “Rich Girl” was already a well known song that he jacked.

shyt, he was jacking beats in the Wreckin Crew days. “Before You Turn Off the Lights” has a heavy unchopped sample all over it.

Where are the large parcels of original shyt Dre has done? When you have access to Storch, Mike Elizondo, Daz and Mel Man, the process gets way easier. But I’m not going to put undue praise when he would literally sample the shyt out of records and not even chop it up like Jay Dee or Primo would take the time to do.

Dre’s consistency was never there and Pac himself called him out on taking too long to do even one track. Meanwhile, Daz and Quik were under the same umbrella and cranking out more shyt. I’ll give Dre credit for being a great mixer and probably balancing out the vibe in the studio and people respecting him enough to organize everything, but pound for pound, he can’t see Teddy and would absolutely get washed by Babyface.

These are dudes who are beatmakers and producers + can mix.

If we are going to judge these producers it has to be fair and on purely identifiable solo work. Can’t only praise Timbo during the Timberlake era when Danja made that project what it was.

At least when you get a Teddy track or a Jimmy/Terry track, you know there wasn’t other people in there helping out and not getting credit until after the fact when the truth comes out on Dub CNN.

We all grew up on Dre but I’m not gonna be out here stanning him when it’s clear he can’t go toe to toe with Teddy.

Fact of the matter is that not working with 1991 Michael Jackson back then is retarded and his tracks might have gotten bushed considering what Teddy brought to the table.

During the time between Bad and Dangerous, Michael had tracks from Bryan Loren, Face/LA Reid and his own in house dudes and bushed all of them. He took some of what his in-house dudes (Bottrell, Swedien) were working on and Teddy transformed that shyt into something that was on another level. Just listen to the original.

I can’t see Dre being able to compete with 1989-92 Teddy Riley at all. And not for someone on the level of Michael Jackson. And during that same time Teddy produced numerous songs/albums for other artists that were hits. Dre worked on 2 albums (well regarded albums) at that time with a lot of help + samples that Jimmy went out of his way to clear.

Even the unreleased shyt like the original Next Episode is a straight up well known sample and we all know he couldn’t clear the sample for GZ Up, Hoes Down.

Oh, and the Bryan Loren shyt could be a thread of its own. He got so gassed about working with Michael that he was running off at the mouth like he was gonna be all over Dangerous. Dude was flossing before anything was set in stone and took it too far. (Michael and his people noticed)

Michael didn’t use ANY of his shyt and Teddy swooped in and crushed the buildings. I could see this happening to Dre for sure.

breh if you were talking about some savvy producer I’d agree, we talking about the nikka that got jerked back to back from eazy e and didn’t learn his lesson and ran away from his stake on death row. Turning down MJ was probably the only thing left for dre to do to feel like he had any testicles. He should gave mike the beats

Double, won't even ask you how :wow:

So how would he have passed?

negotiating.........6 beats with no publishing is wild but if Dre would have gave him say 3 or maybe even 2, I would not be surprised if MJ gave him more favorable conditions versus "no publishing".........6 beats means he clearly wanted to do extensive work with him.....and MJ was a man of the people, he would have gave Dre the credit...

THINGS PEOPLE SAY THAT OUTS THEM AS A CASUAL:

“DRE IS A GREAT MIXER BUT HE CANT MAKE BEATS!”

A MAJORITY OF HIS NWA STINT WAS WIT ZERO CO-PRODUCERS.. U WOULDNT KNOW THIS IF YOU WERENT WELL VERSED IN WEST COAST HIP-HOP

LISTING A BUNCH OF HIS CO-PRODUCERS AND SESSION PLAYERS LIKE IT MEANS SOMETHING .. YOUR POST READS AS IF ALL HIS BEATS ARE SAMPLED OR MADE BY OTHERS, LIKE HE’S PUFFY OR SOME SHIIT....

EVEN WIT HIS SAMPLED TRACKS, TAKE A JOINT LIKE NUTHIN BUT A G THANG, FOR INSTANCE.. BUMP I WANA DO SOMETHING FREAKY TO U IN YOUR WHIP... THEN FOLLOW IT UP WIT G THANG. THE MASTRY IS IN THE THUMP, THE REFINING OF THE INSTRUMENTS, THE LAYERING, THE DROPS.... UNEQUIVOCAL SONIC WIZARDRY THAT ONLY DRE COULD PULL. BUT A CASUAL EAR WHO NEVER DABBLED IN MUSIC WILL NEVER PICK THAT UP OFF TOP

NOW TAKE A BEAT LIKE JUST DIPPIN., 100% ORIGINAL, ZERO CO-PRODUCERS OR SESSION PLAYERS..ONE OF MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE DRE BEATS IF WE KEEPIN IT A BUCK. DO U THINK SOME1 LIKE PUFFY IS CAPABLE OF THAT?

“DRE DOESNT PLAY INSTRUMENTS” .. HE BEEN A BEAST ON THE KEYBOARDS AND PIANO. DRE IS WELL LEARNED IN MUSIC THEORY.. MOST PRODUCERS ARE NOT. JUST BECAUSE HE PREFERS TO COMPOSE OTHERS DOESNT MAKE HIM LESS OF A PRODUCER. AS A MATTER OF FACT, HAVING THE GENIUS TO BRING AN ENTIRE ORCHESTRA TOGETHER AND GUIDE THEM AS IF EACH PERSON IS YOUR PERSONAL INSTRUMENT MAKES IT THAT MUCH MORE IMPRESSIVE

NOW THATS NOTHIN AGAINST U PERSONALLY, BUT THE DRE SLANDER NEEDS TO STOP. U MENTIONING DAZ IN THE SAME SENTENCE AS DRE IS BLASPHEMOUS. DONT DO THAT MAYN.
