From 1980 to 1989 only FIVE different teams made the NBA Finals. The Los Angeles Lakers, Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, Philadelphia 76ers, and Detroit Pistons.

From 1990 to 1999 TEN different teams made the NBA Finals. The Chicago Bulls, San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets, Phoenix Suns, Los Angeles Lakers, Utah Jazz, Orlando Magic, Portland TrailBlazers, Seattle Supersonics, and Detroit Pistons.

So how was the 90's worse than the 80's again?
The knicks also made it in 94 and 99

Connect it for me im bored at work and need a debate to speed up some time
:mjlol:

People can't trash an entire era of sports but at the same time act like the achievements of that era are the greatest or unequal-able.

If you're going to say the league was watered down, then every accomplishment in that time must be watered down.

Or, the league wasn't watered down and it stands on its own.

Pick one.

Ask the Jazz....who needed the watered down 90s to make the NBA finals TWICE because it was too tough for them to do so in the 80s.

Everybody knows the 90s were watered down and less talented.
It's not that the decade was less talented. Malone, stockton, magic, Patrick, Robinson, Shaq, Payton, kemp, Drexler, Hakeem, penny, Alonzo, Tim hardaway, Duncan, AI, and several other huge stars played in the decade. The problem is that so many were spread out on teams before the league could adjust to expanding so much that guys who should've been bench players were starting on a lot of teams. We definitely didn't have as many international players then as we do now though and that's helped the league adjust greatly.

To me this is one of the most skilled eras because everyone can do so much. You got centers crossing people up and shooting 3's while still doing their main job. Small forwards out here handling the ball like pg's but can still do their job. Everyone is multifaceted compared to before. (When I say this, I mean current in case anyone got confused)

Jordan also played in an time where there were 15% more white people in the league, that clearly wouldn't be in the league today. Imagine taking out 15% of the black players in the league and replacing them with white american born players :laff:LeGM would be feasting all day. The game has grown so much since Jordan was in there

Everytime Lebron gets someone white on him its BBQ Chicken

My bad. I had them in my head but forgot to put it in the post.

The 80's WEST was too tough????? The 80's west was god awful horrible breh. That alone blows up your narrative.

That 90's Jazz team swept the Shaq-led Lakers with All-Stars Eddie Jones and Nick Van Exel by his side and took Jordan's Bulls to 6. Foh
