The irony with this contract is that Denver is now willing to spend money and go into the luxury tax when they essentially were trying to use said pick years ago to offload salary. They never wanted to make the MPJ pick, but couldn't find a team to take on the pick and the contract that would come along in doing so.

I would say that the playmaking is more of an issue than defense as you see it in flashes where he can play some semblance of above-average defense. Plus with Gordon on the roster now, he he's not task with guarding the teams best player.

You either have to do it in the most recent season or both of the two seasons prior to getting the supermax extension. That goes for All NBA and DPOY. It's how Tatum missed out on it eventhough he made All NBA Team the years before.

For MPJ to get it, he would have to make DPOY, MVP, or 1st Team All NBA I believe just like Bam had to do. All-Defensive Team doesn't count surprisingly.

I know that. He has the talent to be a 1st option. But playing with Jokic and Murray means he’s a 2nd option at best, most likely 3rd.

He’s not a diverse player at all. He’s an elite scorer and that’s it. No passing, playmaking, or defense.
