A Legend.....they dont make em like this no more.straight classics.. Miles has that real calm intense style. But he's a master at it though, especially with the muted trumpet. Its a trip how he turned out. He grew up in a very well off family- his pops was a dentist. Maybe that might be a reason why he wasn't used to seeing dudes like Bird whil out early in his career. If you guys have Netflix check you Ken Burns- Jazz documentary series. Its amazing. There's nice lengthy sections on Miles, Coltrane, Bird, Thelonious Monk and many more. Also peep Monk's documentary, "Straight No Chaser". The full doc should be on Youtube. Dude was a perfectionist genius but he was also bugged the fukk out mentally.Thank you!
Yeah, "bytches Brew", "Birth of The Cool" and "Kind of Blue" are among my favorites. As well as "Sketches of Spain", "Miles Smiles" and "On The Corner".
I also like his 80's output such as "You're Under Arrest".

@Nemesis Man I watched a documentary about A Great Day In Harlem and dudes said when Monk walked in to be apart of the photo, it was like seing Jesus in the flesh. haha They looked at him like a gawd.
Miles' family was wealthy in comparison to the majority of what Black people had or didn't have back then but he wasn't a Rockefeller now. It wasn't like he was some brat running around without a care in the world. Although they had money, he and his family still had a lot of trails and tribulations they had to over come because they were Black. Having money back then didn't just automatically put someone who was Black into the likes of the world that Whites operated in because Blacks were still viewed as less than equal.
On scale for those days in times he was basically Carlton from the Fresh Prince to JJ from Good Times. He was not of the people like many think. No big thing...just a point.

The Prince with Miles @ Paisley Park is unadulterated Piff! The I want to be your girlfriend rendition is one of my fav live performances..

I can't tell you how many nights I've stayed up going through all of his youtube video interviews. Dude had a brilliant mind. I haven't read the autobiography, but I have seen his bio-documentary, which is excellent.

Bio-Documentary? Got a link or name..so I can make sure Im looking for the right one?
