Former miami dade mayor and a couple of commissioners got re-called (voted out of office) for supporting the miami marlins stadium. more taxpayers around the country should be pro-active before the debt and mortgage is initiated on their backs by crooked politicians and billionaire owners.

It's like why don't these fat cats buy a stadium and get private corporation financing. Corporations who help fund the stadium get permanent sponsorship advertising throughout the building.
If the arena is owned or co-owned by the team, they can use that as a second revenue stream, like concerts, circus acts, or faggy antique shows. Then, the arena owners (i.e team owners) have a vested interest in modernizing the arena when it gets old, and not threaten the city to build a new one when it gets old. This way, they are less likely to move a team because the cost to build a new arena in a new stadium is expensive.

A group of people were courting the Sacramento Kings to move to the Virginia Beach area. That's cool. But they wanted the locals to fund most of this multi-billion dollar arena. And that would be done with a tax hike.
