I don’t know if this is common or not, but in an Islamic studies/art history course a teacher faced backlash for using paintings that depicted Muhammad and eventually got fired.
Is it rare to even show this type of thing/if it already exists in the art world for hundreds of years by established artists who can be found online anyways
It’s not like she CREATED the images or criticized Islam

I just assumed in academic institutions had freedom to teach on subjects like history and art without censorship
Or maybe it’s a reflection of today’s hypersensitive/cancel culture.

After reading the article I’m actually more surprised she didn’t have anything worse happen considering some called it “idolatry”

Nonetheless, i don’t think I’ve ever seen 7th century Arab/Muslim art so this is pretty interesting from a historical point of view and a religious one.
But should she have been fired for just trying to teach history accurately and objectively?
